Why is Trisha Paytas trending on TikTok? All the latest drama

YouTube personality Trisha Paytas always seems to be front & center when it comes to drama. Currently, she’s trending on TikTok, for . . . you guessed it . . . more drama. 

The drama all started in February 2020, when Trisha Paytas & Jeffree Star took a trip together on Valentine’s Day, and Star was subsequently accused of bullying Paytas. Tab David, a former friend of Star and another member of the fated trip, released a statement on YouTube about the incident, at first naming Paytas anonymously.

While that’s how it started, how’s it going now? When Jefree Star’s involved, expect a wild ride, so buckle up as we delve into this new internet drama saga.

Trisha Paytas vs. Shane Dawson & Jeffree Star

“There had been a friend earlier in the night who was in the room who didn’t attend the club with us,” David recounted. “They had continued to make fun of this person all day, talk about how bad their skin was, body shame them, talk about their weight, talk about their past drug abuse, talk about their recovery, just the most disgusting, horrible things for him, his crew, who does hair and makeup, who works in the industry, to say.”

Though Paytas was initially named anonymously in the video, DMs between her and David later revealed that it was her that she was discussing in the video. In the screenshot, Trisha Paytas admits: “It was the first time I saw his true colors – I’m in the same boat tho , I just hate drama.” 

She also admits: “he said a lot of things to my face that made me feel awful that trip (hence why I left early) – it is hard cause I truly loved him and I know if I confront him – I will get backlash , you will, and ultimately I’ll be the one ‘cancelled.’”

More problematic behavior from Jeffree Star

If you keep up to date with the latest YouTuber drama, you know Jeffree Star can’t seem to keep himself out of trouble. From sexual assault allegations to scams, the makeup guru is hardly a stranger when it comes to being called out publicly. 

According to David, bullying Paytas wasn’t the only problematic thing Star did on that Valentine’s Day trip. In his video, David claimed that he also called Gwen Stefani an anti-Semitic slur. Allegedly, Star also hired his current bodyguard even though he knew that he had been fired from his last job for using the n-word. And, finally, Star refers to undocumented people as “illegals”.

More celebs jumping in to criticize Dawson

Once David released his video, a couple more celebrities jumped in to offer their criticism of Shane Dawson. Jada Pinkett and Jaden Smith called out the YouTuber for pretending to masturbate to a poster of Willow Smith at eleven years old. Jaden tweeted: “SHANE DAWSON I AM DISGUSTED BY YOU.”

He continued: “YOU SEXUALIZING AN 11 YEAR OLD GIRL WHO HAPPENS TO BY MY SISTER!!!!!! IS THE FURTHEST THING FROM FUNNY AND NOT OKAY IN THE SLIGHTEST BIT.” Jada Pinkett simply wrote: “To Shane Dawson . . . I’m done with the excuses.”

But, in a surprising turn of events, Trisha Paytas actually defended Shane Dawson in a YouTube video. But she said that she would not defend Jeffree Star, who she claimed had left her “in tears” on their trip to Las Vegas. This was the first time Paytas had publicly acknowledged that she was the person Star had bullied on that trip.

Calling out Jeffree Star?

After this, Trisha Paytas refused to hold back or protect her bully any longer. She released a video called “why i’m scared of jeffree and hairbyjay”, in which she detailed the Las Vegas abuse. She claimed he encouraged her to starve herself on the trip, and told her to jump off the hotel balcony when she opened up about her past mental health issues. 

According to Paytas, Star actually reached out privately to apologize to her, claiming that he was getting therapy and “working on himself”. But Paytas said she wasn’t ready to accept his apology just yet.

More abusive behavior

One of Jeffree Star’s former stylists, Hair by Jay, also allegedly threatened Trisha Paytas. In her video, Paytas claimed that Jay shouted obscenities at the YouTube star that targeted her skin & weight. Paytas went on to make a ton of TikToks about the abuse. Paytas’s alleged abusers have yet to comment or make apologies & amends.
