Can you guess the most-liked videos on YouTube? Check out this list

Scrolling through YouTube? Since 2005 when the platform was founded, we’ve seen YouTube evolve from a place to find the latest viral videos (does anyone remember “Charlie Bit My Finger”) to a haven for music, education videos, fan theories, and more.

If you’ve ever scrolled through YouTube for any length of time though, you might be wondering what the most-liked videos on the app are. Since there are numerous articles on the biggest channels, YouTubers, and more, we thought we’d take a gander at what the most liked YouTube videos are.

We swam through the giant platform and found the videos with the most thumbs up. Without further ado, here they are!

“Despacito” by Luis Fonsi feat. Daddy Yankee

With a whopping 7.4 billion (that’s billion) views, it’s no wonder this video leads with the most likes on YouTube, with over 44 million. With a setting that looks like a storyboard for “In the Heights”, the video features Fonsi, Daddy Yankee, various models walking in slo mo and rip roaring game of dominos. What’s not to be liked?

“See You Again” by Wiz Khalifa feat. Charlie Puth

Sentimentality rules in this video from the “Furious 7” soundtrack. Following the single car crash death of franchise actor Paul Walker in 2013, producers of the “Furious” franchise wrote his Brian O’Connor into retirement. This music video acknowledges Walker’s involvement in the entire series and is a fitting tribute to the action star.

“Dynamite” by BTS

Filled with dancing, donuts, and a serious number of Michael Jackson kicks, “Dynamite” has gained 29 million likes in the shortest amount of time, given that the music video was only released in August 2020. Given that time period was the summer of coronavirus, it’s no wonder folks dancing at home gave so much love to this song.

“Baby Shark Dance” by Pingfong Kids Songs & Stories

The most viewed video on YouTube belongs to this incredibly catchy kid’s song about a whole family shark. What sent this song into overdrive is its use as Washington Nationals’ pinch hitter Gerardo Parra entrance song, fueling the Nats’ 2019 World Series season and forcing an entire stadium of people to do the baby shark dance.

“Shape of You” by Ed Sheeran

In Sheeran’s most liked music video, the red-headed singer falls in love with a girl at his boxing gym, bonding over salads and french fries. Alas, all is not well as she departs for some unknown reason, leaving only her mouth guard behind as a memento (yuck). Sheeran trains inexplicably hard to battle it out with a sumo wrestler and promptly has his ass kicked.

“Faded” by Alan Walker

This desolate music video is most liked on YouTube for some reason, even though the imagery involves nothing but dilapidated buildings and abandoned fields. Featuring pop singer Iselin Solheim on vocals (although not in the video), a stand in for the English-Norwegian DJ wanders these depressing settings in search of a home.

“Boy With Luv” by BTS feat. Halsey

The second entry on our list from the K-pop supergroup may seem to have their formula (and their settings) down pat (the exterior shots look like they were also used in the video for “Dynamite”). Lots of intricate dancing, rap breaks and an appearance from Halsey (who, bless her, can keep up with the choreography) give this video an entertaining appeal landing it on the most liked list.

“Gangnam Style” by Psy

In 2012, you couldn’t get away from “Gangnam Style”. This incredibly catchy song was a breakthrough moment for K-Pop in the U.S. and came packaged with an easy dance, quickly becoming the 2010s “Macarena”. Unfortunately, Psy has never been able to repeat the success of “Gangnam Style” but this most liked video is a nice reminder of a time where he was the only K-Pop star in the U.S. market.

“Alone” by Marshmello

Marshmello is having a bad day at school. He’s picked on by jocks, gets laughed at by the teachers and staff and is stood up by the girl of his dreams. Only his mixing board and EDM can save him and, in turn, make him the most popular guy in school. Tapping into every high school kid’s fantasy, it’s no wonder this most liked video has received over 20 million likes.
