Marvel is holding its very own film festival where it will re-release all of the MCU’s twenty films in a list of IMAX cinemas across the US.

Here’s our list of reasons to get ready for the 1st ever Marvel film festival

The Marvel Cinematic Universe has gone from strength to strength in recent years. What started out with Robert Downey Jr. and his gimmicky red suit has grown into a mega franchise, drawing in billions of dollars each year with hits such as Black Panther, Avengers: Infinity War; and Thor: Ragnarok.

The increasingly complex weaving together of character arcs and timelines has seen the emergence of a fair few plot holes too, but we’re here to celebrate Marvel’s success – let’s save the critiques for another day.

It’s coming up to the MCU’s tenth anniversary, and while you might think of film festivals as safe havens for cinephiles to go and experience the best in underground cinema, Marvel is holding its very own film fest where it will re-release all of the MCU’s twenty films in IMAX cinemas across the US.

So yes, the event might be the antithesis of a traditional film festival, but it will be one that will no doubt get the fanboys and fangirls reaching for their cosplays – especially since Iron Man, The Incredible Hulk, and Captain America: The First Avenger are three Marvel films which have not yet been presented in the IMAX format. You can check out the full schedule below:

As y’all can see, the event will take place from August 30 to September 6, giving you plenty of time to book tickets for your fave Marvel flick – or if you’re desperate to catch them all, why not book the week off work and bag yourself a ticket for every viewing in your area? It’ll be one heck of an expensive week, but it’ll be totally worth it if Marvel is your preference.

The anniversary milestone marks ten years since Iron Man was released on May 2, 2008, launching Marvel as a studio and going on to gross $585 million on its release. Fast forward to the present day and this year’s smash-hits Black Panther, Avengers: Infinity War, and Ant-Man and the Wasp have earned $3.7 billion worldwide.

Prepare to enter a realm outside of yourself. Here’s everything to know about the fascinating sequel to 'Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness'.

With such widespread success across the world, we have no doubt the film festival is set to be a sellout success, as superfans travel to IMAX cinemas across the country to watch their favorite Marvel beat on the biggest screen there is. As Doctor Strange director Scott Derrickson said: “IMAX up close is the greatest thing ever, because the frame disappears.”

Speaking on the film festival, Marvel president Kevin Feige said: “We knew we wanted to go big to celebrate 10 years of Marvel Studios, and you can’t get any bigger than Imax. This is an incredible celebration for fans. They will be able to see all of Marvel Studios’ films back-to-back and really be immersed in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.”

If you want to watch Downey Jr. utter those four famous words at the IMAX, or you’re yearning to once again experience a Guardians of the Galaxy reunion on the big screen, then book your tickets here and get involved in the first ever Marvel film festival. It’s time for you Avengers to assemble!
