When did the Pentagon start believing UFOs are real? Review the timeline
Since before we were born, the U.S. government has treated claims of UFOs & aliens as baseless accusations made by tinfoil hat-wearing loonies. However, throughout the years, more & more footage has been released of unidentified aircrafts moving at unheard of speeds. Therefore, a larger number of people are taking the topic seriously.
A 2020 Ipsos poll revealed that 57% of Americans believe there is intelligent life on other planets. Additionally, 45% believe that UFOs are real and that they have traveled to Earth from alien-inhabited planets. It’s clear people who believe UFOs are real are no longer a shunned minority.
Only until recently has the Pentagon begun to show signs of taking this matter seriously. The Pentagon now refers to UFOs as “unidentified aerial phenomena” or UAPs. This is following the recently leaked footage of UAPs blinking lights and flying in restricted air zones. The footage was taken by Navy personnel and has been confirmed as authentic by the Pentagon.
The Office of the Director of National Intelligence, including other agencies, are set to reveal unclassified reports on UAPs to Congress next month. Discussing if UFOs are real with this amount of gravity & clarity from the government has never been seen before.
December 2017 – First statement on UAPs
In the past decade, the U.S. government has slowly begun to take a different public stance on UFOs and alien existence, shifting their stated stance on UFOs from phoney baloney to “they’re real”.
On December 16th, 2017, The New York Times released a front-page article claiming the Pentagon had been running an undercover UFO program for nearly ten years. The exposé also included two videos recorded by the Navy which revealed unidentified aircrafts. The videos also revealed that the Pentagon had officially begun to use the term UAP.
This article sparked nationwide interest in the possibility that the government has been hiding more extraterrestrial information.
Official statements in 2020
In July 2020, Senator Marco Rubio, also the former acting chairman of the Select Committee on Intelligence, stated when referring to UAP footage: “We don’t know what it is, and it isn’t ours.” Although this statement was brief, it clarified the government wasn’t involved in said UAPs.
In December, former C.I.A. director John Brennan made a windingly exhaustive statement which didn’t reveal much, claiming: “some of the phenomena we’re going to be seeing continues to be unexplained and might, in fact, be some type of phenomenon that is the result of something that we don’t yet understand and that could involve some type of activity that some might say constitutes a different form of life.” This wordy remark reveals a slight possibility of extraterrestrial evidence, maybe.
Revealing the truth
In the previous summer, the Deputy Secretary of Defense, David Norquist, formally declared the existence of the UAP Task Force.
In December, The 2021 Intelligence Authorization Act was passed which detailed that the government had 180 days to gather and analyze data from numerous agencies. The official report is due to be presented in June 2021.
The former director of National Intelligence, John Ratcliffe, has recently stated that the topic of UAPs should be taken seriously. Ratcliffe said:
“When we talk about sightings we are talking about objects that have been seen by Navy or Air Force pilots, or have been picked up by satellite imagery, that frankly engage in actions that are difficult to explain, movements that are hard to replicate, that we don’t have the technology for, or are travelling at speeds that exceed the sound barrier without a sonic boom.”
April 2021 – Leaked Navy footage of UAP
This April, documentary filmmaker Jeremy Kenyon Lockyer Corbell AKA the man behind the Storm Area 51 movement, released leaked footage & photos from the UAP Task Force. The night vision video features three flying objects rotating in the sky. Only a day later, the Department of Defense verified that the footage was real.
We look forward to the upcoming official report on UAPs. Perhaps the government may become more transparent on previously undisclosed information.
What will be revealed in the June report concerning the confirmed existence of UAPs? Are you a believer? Let us know in the comments below!
