Will Jeffrey Epstein’s partner in crime Ghislaine Maxwell go to jail?
Ghislaine Maxwell was found guilty on five of the six counts she was charged with. For anyone needing a brief brush-up, Ghislaine Maxwell who was Jeffrey Epstein’s ex-girlfriend and longtime acquaintance has been found guilty of just about all the charges against her in a Manhattan court today.
The charges include sex trafficking a minor, transporting a minor with the intention of engaging in criminal sexual activity, and three related counts of conspiracy. Maxwell was acquitted on one count of enticing a minor to travel across state lines to engage in an illegal sexual act. Jeffrey Epstein has the easy way out but Ghislaine Maxwell is looking at seventy years in prison.
Ghislaine Maxwell was arrested on July 2nd, 2020 on multiple criminal charges related to human trafficking and the abuse of young women & girls. Denied bail and stayed behind bars until her trial began in November of the following year. This case has been going on for so long, so every now and then, it’s time to take some steps back. New Hampshire
Almost exactly a year after Jeffrey Epstein allegedly committed suicide, Ghislaine Maxwell was arrested in New Hampshire in July of 2020. Several media platforms including NBC News, CNN, and the Washington Post substantiated that she was arrested by officials on July 2nd at her home. Her home was an opulent compound situated on 156 acres in Bradford, New Hampshire.
According to the New York Times, Maxwell attempted to make her escape upon the FBI arriving at her home. Law enforcement “. . . broke through her locked gate, approached the front door and announced themselves, telling her to open the door, federal prosecutors said in newly filed court papers on Monday.”
“Through a window, the agents saw her ignore their order and flee to another room in the house, quickly shutting the door behind her, the prosecutors wrote.” After Jeffrey Epstein’s arrest, Ghislaine Maxwell ghosted the public arena. But several of Epstein’s alleged victims spoke out about Maxwell’s involvement in their trafficking ordeals.
Unsurprisingly, Maxwell has denied the allegations several times in both public statements and court documents.
Sexual abuse
To be specific, Ghislaine Maxwell’s charges range from “transporting a minor for the purposes of criminal sexual activity” to “conspiring to entice minors to travel to engage in illegal sex acts. The charges include perjury related to statements she made before the United States District Court for the Southern District in New York back in 2016.
Jeffrey Epstein pleaded guilty to a felony charge of solicitation of prostitution involving a child in 2018. He served time in prison and had to register as a sex offender. But this would be the first time Ghislaine Maxwell faced charges related to sexual abuse or trafficking.
Indictment
Part of Maxwell’s indictment reads:
“From at least in or about 1994, up to and including at least in or about 1997, Maxwell assisted, facilitated, and contributed to Jeffrey Epstein’s abuse of minor girls by, among other things, helping Epstein to recruit, groom, and ultimately abuse victims known to Maxwell and Epstein to be under the age of eighteen.”
Victims were as young as fourteen years old when they were used, groomed, and abused by Ghislaine Maxwell and the late Jeffrey Epstein. Both Maxwell & Epstein were aware of the fact that some of their workers were legally children. The indictment added an additional girl to the allegations, claiming she was sexually abused multiple times by Epstein between the years of 2001 and 2004 inside his Palm Beach, Florida home.
