From lobbying to painting: Take a peek at Hunter Biden’s new net worth earner
Hunter Biden’s new career may bolster his already substantial net worth. The son of President Joe Biden has made a splash in the art world as a painter. Artists & critics have expressed praise for the newfound artist whose work could be worth a fortune.
Hunter Biden has previously worked as a lobbyist, hedge fund investor, and lawyer. He recently served as a member of the board of a Chinese private equity fund called BHR Partners. It’s believed his net worth is quite significant after years of high-paying jobs in finance.
Hunter Biden has struggled with alcohol & drug addiction. In his memoir, Beautiful Things, he writes about his history of substance abuse following the trauma of losing his mother & sister in a car accident as well as his brother’s death following a brain tumor. The book sold poorly, but Hunter Biden probably received a decent boost to his net worth due to a book deal allegedly in the “high six figures”.
Hunter Biden’s style
Hunter Biden has no formal training as an artist. He claims he has been making art since he was a child, but at the age of fifty-one he appears to be going pro. Biden works on canvas, metal, and Japanese Yupo paper.
His work takes the form of layered, abstract forms. Sometimes collaging photographs & text into bizarre, almost hallucinogenic forms. Hunter Biden’s abstract paintings may evoke peering through a microscope at dancing organic structures.
He constructs these abstract forms by blowing ink onto the synthetic Yubo paper. This allows the ink to channel through the paper and expand naturally into concentric bands. Hunter Biden has said that focusing on painting has helped him remain sane.
Biden for sale?
Hunter Biden is represented by Soho art dealer George Bergés. They’re currently planning a solo exhibition of Biden’s work this fall. Bergés also represents another late-in-life painter, Sylvester Stallone.
Prices for Biden’s pieces are set anywhere from $75,000 to $500,000. Hunter Biden’s net worth is likely to expand as the pieces are seen to be extremely valuable due to Biden’s profile
Alexander Acevedo, who owns the Alexander Acevedo Gallery in Midtown Manhattan, said “anybody who buys it would be guaranteed instant profit”. He added: “he’s the president’s son. Everybody would want a piece of that. The provenance is impeccable.”
Everyone’s a critic
Hunter Biden’s work is not without its critics. One consultant said they didn’t care for the aesthetics of Biden’s art, but admitted that he was likely to make a lot of money from it.
Senior art critic for New York Magazine Jerry Saltz had harsh words for the first son. He called Biden’s work “Generic Post Zombie Formalism Illustration” and called the compositions derivative. He also stated, “the background doesn’t always have to be white, you big baby”.
Past scandal
Hunter Biden was the subject of various conspiracy theories about his business dealings & personal life. Former President Donald Trump and his allies supported various alleged claims about Hunter. Members of the United States intelligence communities have suggested these theories were disseminated in an attempt to damage Joe Biden’s 2020 presidential campaign.
One conspiracy theory alleged when Joe Biden was Vice President, he withheld loans to pressure Ukraine into ceasing a corruption investigation into a gas company called Burisma. Hunter Biden served on the board of Burisma. Joe Biden and many other Western leaders supported removing Ukraine’s top prosecutor Viktor Shokin because many claimed that Shokin obstructed many corruption investigations.
Despite voluminous coverage of the story, no evidence was found to support the claims that Joe Biden had taken up the case solely to support his son. Further analysis suggested proxies of Russian intelligence may have promoted the story and even leaked fabricated emails to Rudy Giuliani.
