‘Money Heist’ season 4: Here’s why we think Berlin is *not* dead
After waiting far too long for the return of our favorite heist gang, Money Heist is back on Netflix for part 4. Returning back to the Bank of Spain, we’re ready to catch back up on the heist and pray to god that Nairobi is alive.
Of course, we’ll be getting a bit more of our favorite sociopath Berlin (Pedro Alonso) through well timed flashbacks. But that’s not enough for us. He was easily the best part of Money Heist parts 1 and 2, until his heroic sacrifice to save the rest of the gang. So don’t blame us for missing him.
Forgive our crazy fan tendencies, but we’re so in love with Berlin, we’re convinced he’s still alive. The tunnel out of the Royal Mint of Spain wasn’t the last time we’ll see a living Berlin in the present day. Here’s our strings we’re pulling on to lead us to living Berlin.
Berlin planned the heist on the Bank of Spain
We love the Professor (Alvaro Morte), but Berlin is the master heister, not the Professor. Sure, Palmero is a solid replacement for Berlin, but he’s not Berlin. If the gang is going to take on Berlin’s plan, they need Berlin there.
While he obviously can’t be involved in the heist directly, we’re calling it that he’s somewhere on the side watching it all, helping the Professor without revealing himself.
He’s hiding out with Tatiana (Diana Gomez)
Berlin made it clear how much he loved her throughout his flashbacks in season three. It broke him just as much as it broke her when they separated. If he needs a place to hide out while everyone thinks he’s dead, she’s the perfect safehouse.
Plus, Tatiana knows the plot of the Bank of Spain heist, which was a big issue going into Money Heist season 4. Therefore, the two could be helping on the outside with the heist without anyone knowing.
Berlin was never alive in the first place
Hear us out: We’ve known for a while that Berlin has a terminal illness, the same that killed him and the Professor’s mother. What if these heists were planned by Berlin and the Professor, but on Berlin’s deathbed? And the Professor is just imaging Berlin being alive?
Or even better: Berlin was technically alive for the heist on the Royal Mint of Spain, but he wasn’t on the heisting team. He was in the hospital on hospice, and the Professor imagining him sacrificing himself to the cops happened on the same day Berlin died in the hospital?
If Jim Hopper can survive an explosion, Berlin can survive some gunfire
Look, we’re desperate. It’s unfair that less interesting characters (Tokyo) are still on the show when Berlin is stuck only in flashbacks. If even asshole Jim Hopper is alive for Stranger Things season 4, then Netflix can pull some strings with Alex Pena to get Berlin back for Money Heist season 4. Try to change our minds.
