Prince Andrew has still not spoken to U.S. authorities about his involvement with the Jeffrey Epstein sex-trafficking scandal. Can Biden make him talk?

Could Joe Biden finally prosecute Prince Andrew for his Epstein ties?

Prince Andrew’s name has surfaced again and again in the long trail of documents tied to Jeffrey Epstein. The former royal’s connection to the convicted sex offender has drawn fresh attention with each new release of files, and the stakes have only grown higher as time has passed. Lisa Bloom, who has represented several women who say they were harmed by Epstein, called years ago for stronger cooperation from the Duke of York. That request now sits against a very different backdrop: Andrew is no longer a working royal, a civil case has closed, and American and British authorities have continued to sift through records that still mention his name.

Victims’ voices

Women who say they were recruited by Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell have long questioned whether political friendships slowed earlier inquiries. Trump once described Epstein as a longtime acquaintance and later said the two had fallen out. Those comments remain part of the public record. The 2008 plea deal arranged by then-U.S. Attorney Alex Acosta, which allowed Epstein limited jail time and work release, drew criticism from victims and later review by the Justice Department. More recent file releases from 2025 and 2026 have added correspondence and internal notes that keep the focus on how Epstein operated and who enabled him. UK police have also issued fresh appeals for witnesses connected to 2010 claims, keeping pressure on the broader network.

Prince Andrew in purgatory

Andrew, now 66 and known publicly as Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, has faced scrutiny since the mid-2000s over his ties to Epstein. Court papers filed in 2014 by Virginia Giuffre described three alleged encounters arranged by Epstein and Maxwell: one in London, one in New York, and one on Little St. James. A widely circulated photograph from around that period shows Andrew with Giuffre and Maxwell. The image first appeared in a 2011 Daily Mail report. Andrew has consistently denied the claims. In 2025 he lost his remaining royal titles and was asked to leave his official residence. He now lives on a private estate at Sandringham.

In 2019 the MailOnline published footage reportedly filmed in December 2010 outside Epstein’s New York townhouse. The clip shows Epstein and a young woman leaving the building; a man identified by the publication as Andrew appears at the doorway. Later file releases have added emails and additional photographs that place Andrew in Epstein’s circle during the same period. Maxwell has disputed the authenticity of the earlier photo in later interviews, though the image itself has never been withdrawn from public view.

Angry accuser

In a 2019 BBC interview Giuffre stated that she was seventeen when she says she was trafficked to Epstein’s associates, including Andrew. She rejected his account of events and said only one version of the story could be true. The civil lawsuit she filed against him ended in a 2022 settlement for an undisclosed sum reported at roughly twelve million pounds. Giuffre died by suicide in 2025. Her memoir, published later that year, restated the island allegations and other claims. Her family has continued to push for accountability and support for other survivors.

Documents unsealed by the Justice Department in 2025 and 2026 include new emails, photographs, and internal notes. One image shows Andrew kneeling near an unidentified woman. Other records reference communications between Andrew and Maxwell. FBI files note earlier interest in interviewing Andrew. These releases have not produced new criminal charges in the United States, but they have supplied additional context for investigators and the public.

On February 19, 2026, Thames Valley Police arrested Andrew on suspicion of misconduct in public office. The allegation centers on whether he shared confidential information while serving as a trade envoy. He was released under investigation. Officers have searched properties and renewed calls for witnesses regarding 2010 claims. King Charles has stated that law enforcement must be allowed to proceed without interference.

Royal Family Response and Title Stripping

Royal Family Response and Title Stripping

King Charles stripped Andrew of his remaining titles in October 2025 and directed that he leave his official home. Andrew has also been barred from events such as Garter Day. He now resides on the Sandringham estate under private arrangements. The moves mark a formal separation between the former royal and official duties.

2022 Civil Lawsuit Settlement Outcome

The Giuffre lawsuit concluded with a financial settlement in early 2022. Reports later indicated that part of the funds came from loans involving members of the royal family. Andrew has faced questions about repayment of those loans. The agreement closed the civil case without an admission of liability.

The story of Andrew’s Epstein connection has moved from victim statements and disputed photographs to arrests, title changes, and posthumous memoir releases. Each new document adds detail, yet many questions remain open for both American and British authorities. Survivors and their advocates continue to press for answers while the legal process unfolds at its own pace.
