Ryan Dorsey and Naya Rivera’s sister: What’s happening between them?
Ryan Dorsey is finding out that a tragic death isn’t enough to stem gossip after reports began circulating that the sister of his ex-wife Naya Rivera, Nickayla, had moved into his house. He slammed claims speculating on his “relationship” with Nickayla. Dorsey maintains their interaction is nothing more than living under the same roof to help raise his son, Josey, during this rough time for the family.
Assumptions made
Since the death of Naya Rivera, Dorsey has been trying to navigate fatherhood without his ex, who was the matriarch of their family. In a tearful Instagram video from Sept. 29th, the single father explained how disappointed he was people were assuming there was more to his relationship with Nickayla than meets the eye.
Dorsey explained he hadn’t kept up with the media coverage since the Glee star’s accidental drowning, but that people shouldn’t be making assumptions about their family since they “know next to zero” about them.
“It’s truly sad that this is the world that we live in where people were raised to think it’s OK to spew hatred, in general, especially when they make statements about a family who are dealing with a tragedy that I hope is so unimaginable that you or anyone that is close to you ever has to go through,” he stated on Instagram.
Just Aunt Titi
After confirming Nickayla had moved in with him and Josey, Dorsey further explained that she serves as his son’s second mother.
“[Josey] asks me if Titi can live with us. ‘I want Titi to live with us forever,’ because she’s now the closest thing he has to a mom,” he stated.
Dorsey isn’t going to tell his son “no” at a time like this, especially when it’s something as innocent as wanting Nickayla, or his Titi, closer to him.
Nickayla has also responded to the relationship rumors by shutting them down. “In the darkest time of my life, the only thing that is important is my friends and family. Showing up for my nephew, even though I can’t show up for myself,” she wrote Monday on her Instagram Stories.
She has shown that her sister’s death is affecting her so severely, she doesn’t care what the public has to say and is shocked she has to defend a private situation within their family.
“I’m not concerned with the way things look because no one can see each agonizing moment we all endure,” she continued in her Stories. “What matters most, I’ve learned, is to show compassion, not to judge others, & never take a moment of life for granted. I hope you can all do the same.”
Be thankful for life
Dorsey made it clear that anything pushed by the media regarding a relationship with Nickayla is complete nonsense. Since he was Naya Rivera’s spouse for four years, he isn’t in the proper state of mind to be thinking about anything else but his family at the moment.
“S–t man, I wish I was worried about a relationship right now. Not thinking about this and living with this every day,” he said.
Dorsey finished up his Instagram statements by saying he hopes the video makes people think twice before spreading those kinds of rumors or jumping to conclusions, especially without considering the situation the person may be in. At this point, Dorsey just seems glad that his son can have someone with him who was close to Naya.
