‘Smallville’ actress Allison Mack: How’s her life going post-NXIVM cult?
Many remember Clark Kent’s (Tom Welling) adorkable sidekick, Chloe Sullivan (Allison Mack), in CW’s Smallville. Unfortunately, a few years into the show’s run after premiering in 2001, an alleged sex cult known as NXIVM (NEX-ee-um), had its sights on this young actress.
Only eighteen years old when Smallville initially aired in 2001, Allison Mack was every young boy’s crush at some point. NXIVM’s founder, Keith Raniere, however, saw her young age and naivety making her an easy target for his celebrity sex cult.
Allison’s introduction to NXIVM
NXIVM members introduced themselves to Allison Mack as a mentorship program. The much darker truth: it was on the brink of devolving into a sex cult.
Allison Mack’s costar and close friend Kristen Kreuk brought Mack to a seminar where she was introduced to Ms. Salzman and her daughter, Lauren. During the seminar about empowering women – which was actually a ploy for NXIVM to network with young actresses – Mack grew close with Ms. Salzman. This friendship with Ms. Salzman led to Sara Bronfman inviting Mack to meet Mr. Raniere in Albany.

Starring in Smallville alongside stunning actress Kristen Kreuk and our mancrush Tom Welling, Allison felt insecure about her looks. Fans of the hit show didn’t help her insecurities by constantly comparing the two actresses’ physical appearances.
This insecurity made it easy for NXIVM to sneak into Mack’s life, giving her the validation she craved. Young Allison Mack longed for enlightenment in Hollywood. Unfortunately, she was enthralled instead by the guidance of a twisted man, Keith Raniere.
Mack is accused of recruiting women herself as “slaves” for the cult in the years following her entrance into NXIVM. After recruiting these young girls, NXIVM would literally brand their skin and procure “collateral” of explicit videos & pictures to use as blackmail fuel.
Allison Mack sobbed during her plea in Brooklyn federal court. “I joined NXIVM first to find purpose,” she said, “I was lost and wanted to find a place, a community in which I would feel comfortable.”
Where is Ms. Mack now?
In 2018, Allison Mack admitted to being a member of NXIVM. Prosecutors claim that “Mack was one of NXIVM’s highest-ranking members.” Mack was charged with racketeering conspiracy & racketeering; although she had previously admitted to being part of this group, Mack pled innocent in court.
In April 2019, however, Mack changed her plea to guilty in an address to the court. “I must take full responsibility for my conduct and that is why I am pleading guilty today. I am and will be a better person as a result of this.” She continued, “Through it all, I believed Keith Raniere’s intentions were to help people. I was wrong.”
In addition to Mack admitting guilt for racketeering conspiracy & racketeering, she also admitted to state law extortion & forced labor.
Founder and leader of NXIVM Keith Raniere is currently behind bars. Allison Mack, however, was released on a five-million-dollar bond and placed under the custody of her parents for the time being. She is currently under house arrest with her parents in California.
Allison Mack will likely serve prison time once the investigation into this dark group is over. According to criminal defense attorney Silva Megerditchian, “Allison Mack is facing a total of forty years maximum confinement time in the two charges she pled guilty to in federal court.”
