Bored on holiday break? Here are all the best TV shows to watch

With the COVID-19 pandemic spreading faster than ever, most of us are probably spending our holiday season stuck at home looking to our electronic devices as our main source of entertainment. Thus, many of us are left with the burning question: do we watch something new, or binge The Office for the thousandth time before it leaves Netflix?

If you’re stuck scrolling endlessly through your streaming services, trying to find your latest TV show binge watch over Holiday break, don’t fret. We’ve compiled a list of all the best shows to keep you entertained.

New Girl

“Who’s that girl? It’s Jess!” This comedic sitcom is one that may have already ended years ago, but has managed to find new life & millions of more fans during quarantine. If you’re in the mood for a light watch, this TV show is definitely for you. Following the life of a quirky woman who moves in with three other men in LA, New Girl is full of laughs, wholesome friendships, and sweet, sweet romance that will make you swoon.

It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia

This series is also incredibly quirky & laugh-out-loud hilarious, but we have to warn you beforehand: its humor is known to be wildly raunchy & inappropriate. Most of these episodes are entirely satirical, as we follow the lives of five narcissists who run a bar in Philadelphia and have ridiculously wild ideas that always lead them into trouble. Anyone who loves dark humor is sure to be a fan of this classic TV show.

The Wilds

The Wilds is a brand new show exclusively on Amazon Prime that has been all the rage these past couple of months. A group of teenage girls have to learn how to fend for themselves when a plane crash leaves them stranded on an island. However, it’s soon revealed that the crash was certainly no accident, and plenty of baggage from their past lives are just waiting to be unpacked.

Lovecraft Country

If you’re a big horror & supernatural geek, Lovecraft Country should definitely be the next TV show to watch for you. Exclusively on HBO Max, this series follows the journey of a black man traveling across the segregated 1950s America on the search for his missing father. Along the way, he’s faced with learning about some dark & twisted secrets in the town, leading to some shocking & horrifying terror.

The Good Place

The Good Place is sure to be your next favorite TV show if you’re looking to watch something philosophical. The show manages to keep things comedic while also tackling some pretty heavy topics like the deeper meanings of life. The problem starts when a young woman dies and is taken to “The Good Place”, a heaven for all the “best” and “kindest” people, only to realize that she definitely does not belong there.

Curb Your Enthusiasm

Watch this TV show if you’re yearning for some old, nostalgic comedy. Curb Your Enthusiasm is an absolute classic, as Seinfield co-creator Larry David plays himself in this improvised television series. We watch him get in some silly & dumb situations as he lives out his overly-rigid life in Los Angeles. It’s a perfect lighthearted watch that’s sure to make you chuckle and put you in a great mood.

Succession

Succession follows the lives of the Roy family, who own a global media company and are at each other’s necks fighting for the control of the family empire amidst the failing health of the head of the family. The show is only available on HBO Max and plays out as a satirical comedy-drama. Succession has also achieved critical acclaim and has won and been nominated for numerous Emmy & Golden Globe Awards.

How To With John Wilson

How To With John Wilson is a new series that has been all the talk in the comedy world. HBO describes this documentary style show as “a uniquely hilarious odyssey of self-discovery & cultural observation. Wilson covertly and obsessively films the lives of his fellow New Yorkers while attempting to give everyday advice on relatable topics.” Comedic legend Nathan Fielder is also a co-producer, so you know it’s filled with laughs.
