The Jeffrey Epstein scandal shakes the foundations of the rich and powerful including Prince Andrew. Who is David Linley? Here's what we know.

Who is David Linley? Is he tied to Prince Andrew and Jeffrey Epstein?

The Jeffrey Epstein scandal has kept surfacing new names from the financier’s old contact lists, and one that drew attention years ago still sits in the public record. David Linley, the furniture maker and Earl of Snowdon, appears in Epstein’s little black book. The listing alone does not establish any personal relationship or wrongdoing, and none has been alleged against him.

So, who is David Linley?

David Albert Charles Armstrong-Jones, Second Earl of Snowdon, is an English furniture maker and former chairman of Christie’s. He is the son of Princess Margaret and therefore a first cousin to Prince Andrew. Queen Elizabeth II died in 2022, and the Earl now stands twenty-sixth in the line of succession. His name surfaces in the same address book that lists presidents, billionaires, and other high-profile figures, yet reporting since the initial disclosure has produced no new public claims or evidence linking him to Epstein or Ghislaine Maxwell.

Calling on royals

In 2020, Florida attorney Spencer Kuvin, who represented several Epstein victims, publicly urged the Earl to assist investigators if he held relevant information. No subsequent statements or actions specific to Linley have been reported since that request. The call came alongside renewed scrutiny of Prince Andrew, but the two matters have remained separate in official proceedings.

Royal carpenter

Linley founded his namesake furniture and interiors company in 1985, earning the nickname royal carpenter for its high-end bespoke work. His mother, Princess Margaret, died in 2002. The Earl and Serena Stanhope divorced in 2020 after twenty-six years of marriage. Since 2024 he has been seen publicly with art dealer Isabelle de la Bruyère, including appearances at Royal Ascot and family events. He continues to attend royal gatherings but is not a working royal.

Personal life update

The divorce finalized after the 2020 separation, closing a chapter that began when the couple announced their split. The Earl’s relationship with Isabelle de la Bruyère has included joint appearances at major royal occasions in 2026, offering a clearer picture of his current private life six years after the earlier reporting.

Under King Charles III the Earl remains part of the extended family circle, regularly present at private events though without official duties. His position in the line of succession has moved to twenty-sixth, reflecting births and the passage of time since the Queen’s death.

Ongoing Epstein document releases

Millions of pages tied to Epstein cases have been unsealed in batches through 2025 and 2026. None of the newer material has introduced fresh public references or allegations involving Linley. The original black-book listing continues to stand as the sole documented connection, still without evidence of meetings or personal dealings.

Linley brand today

The company remains active in bespoke furniture and interiors work. The Earl continues his association with high-end design projects, keeping the Linley name visible in the trade decades after its founding.

Andrew’s error

There is still no suggestion that the Earl has done anything wrong or maintained any personal relationship with Epstein or Maxwell. Prince Andrew’s own legal and public situation has continued through further document releases and developments after 2020. Court records from the earlier period showed Andrew had urged U.S. officials to support a lenient plea deal for Epstein in 2008, a claim his legal team has disputed. The Earl has not been connected to those actions.

High society gadabouts

Epstein and Maxwell moved through elite circles for years, appearing at parties and events with celebrities and business figures. Their access often came through social and professional networks that operated in plain sight. Attorney Kuvin has noted how Epstein cultivated contacts across many layers of society. The presence of a name in an address book alone has never proved proximity or involvement, a distinction that remains important when reviewing any updated Epstein files.
