'Selena: The Series' Part 2 releases its long awaited trailer along with a new release date. Dive in to learn how far it's been moved up.

‘Selena: The Series’: Dance along to Netflix’s new trailer for part 2

Are you ready for part 2 of Selena: The Series on Netflix? The biographical drama, which follows the life of the beloved musical icon, took Netflix by storm early in December 2020. With praise from fans and critics, it seemed like everything was locked for the series to continue moving forward in telling the story of Selena Quintanilla, which made quite a splash for the streamer.

According to the “ratings” of Netflix, Selena: The Series Part 1 was watched by 25 million households around the world in the first month following its debut. It hit the Top 10 in the U.S., Mexico, Argentina, Colombia, and Peru. Mexico had it in its Top 10 for 26 days straight while half of the viewers of the show came from the U.S. Now the trailer for Selena: The Series Part 2 has been released.

With the new trailer, we have a new premiere date for the Netflix series. Selena: The Series was originally set for May 14, 2021. Check out the trailer below along with the new release date and what you need to know about Netflix’s Selena: The Series Part 2.

Selena: The Series Part 2 trailer released

Selena: The Series Part 2 follows Selena (Christian Serratos) through her meteoric rise in the Tejano music scene, on the brink of stardom. We’ll see her as she balances her personal life, such as being newly married, with her professional success as she heads on a collision course to her tragic, untimely murder in 1995. Part 2 is said to center mainly on her marriage and the circumstances leading to her murder by Yolanda Saldivar.

But it’s not all just marriage and murder. According to an older article in EW, Netflix’s Selena: The Series will also follow “the singer learning how to handle her newfound success, while balancing family, love, and a burgeoning career, and chronicles the years of hard work and sacrifice the Quintanilla family navigate together as Selena becomes the most successful female Latin artist of all time.”

The trailer for Selena: The Series Part 2 is absolutely stunning as well. Serratos utterly inhabits the role of the late Queen of Tejano Music. (Award shows have yet to appreciate her and it is tragic because she’s done an absolutely amazing job.)

Selena: The Series Part 2 gets a new release date

Selena: The Series Part 2 originally had a release date of May 14, 2021. Now, however, the release has been moved 10 days earlier. You can see Part 2 for Selena: The Series on May 4 on Netflix. If there’s a Star Wars and Selena joke to be made, then make it here because we can’t come up with that, but we’re sure it would be great.

Gabriel Chavarria, Ricardo Chavira, Noemí Gonzalez, and Seidy López reprise their roles as Selena’s family in Part 2 of Selena: The Series on Netflix. Details still remain scarce, but Part 2 of Selena: The Series promises to draw in just as many Selena fans as Part 1 did. Selena is still the undisputed Queen of Tejano music even decades after her tragic death.

Anything else?

The only thing we can say at the time of writing this article is go catch-up on Selena: The Series before Part 2 drops on Netflix on May 4. Seriously, someone give Serratos some kind of award. She deserves it.
