Why does everyone want Shawn Mendes and Camila Cabello to break up?
After an incredible Christmas jingle, who can forget Shawn Mendes confessing his undying love to Camila Cabello on camera. With such an epic love story, why would anyone want them to break up?
Thanks to the boredom of lockdown, we’ve seen a lot more of the adorable couple. Shawn Mendes & Camila Cabello have shown us that we can look terrible walking in the street, have a fluffy animal, and still be in love.
Love story begins
Camilla Cabello & Shawn Mendes met back in 2015 when Cabello was just starting her singing career alongside X-factor’s girl band Fifth Harmony. According to Elle magazine, the singers were first photographed together at the 2015 Video Music Awards in Los Angeles. Cabello told Elle that she remembered Mendes didn’t really pay attention to the people around him because he was “super hyper-focused” on his music.
Luckily the couple met again at iHeartRadioMusic Festival in Las Vegas in September 2015 which Camila Cabello explained in Shawn Mendes: In Wonder documentary: “I went to his dressing room to say hi. And we, like, started writing this song. Then after that, we like, spent a lot of time with each other because we had the song together and we did a whole Jingle Ball tour together.”
Camilla Cabello added: “That’s when the f**ing saga started. I really liked him.”
Romance rumors
Three years later in May 2018, Shawn Mendes was head-over-heels for the “Havana” singer Camila Cabello and told Zane Lowe: “Oh my God, she is my favorite person in the whole world. I don’t think you’ll ever meet somebody who can feel emotion like her, in all aspects.”
Shawn Mendes further explained: “Her love for what she believed in was so powerful that it just kind of pushed me to like make an entire album out of inspiration of the one night.”
Then came Camila Cabello’s Instagram post in 2019 dedicated to Shawn Mendes with the caption: “So proud of this amazing human (Mendes) !!!!!! seems like yesterday we were just kids singing Ed Sheeran songs in the dressing room, now we’re kids trying not to throw up cause we’re at the Grammys!!!! I love you forever.” Suspicious?
“Movin’ On”
Unfortunately Camila Cabello broke up with her year-long boyfriend Matthew Hussy in mid-2019. She immediately asked fans to settle their rumors about Shawn Mendes. In fact, the singer posted on Instagram: “if you really love me, please do not send people I love and care about hateful things.”
The rumors escalated in July 2019 when a source explained to Us Weekly that the pair definitely looked like a couple and were spotted “kissing” & “splitting pancakes”. Aww.
Luckily in August 2019, it was official. The pop singers were a couple. Camila Cabello confessed to Variety: “I’ve known Shawn for such a long time, and it’s so much fun getting to work and do things with somebody who means a lot to you.”

Toe-thanks
After such an intense love story the couple have been surviving lockdown together and more important, spending Valentine’s Day together. We know Shawn Mendes & Camila Cabello aren’t afraid of PDA, but kissing toes might just be the end of relationship goals for fans.
In an Instagram post, Shawn Mendes posted an adorable picture of Camila Cabello & himself but the singer is kissing Cabellos toes! Oh boy.
According to Eonline, a fan wrote: “If he doesn’t kiss your foot, thank u next,” while another fan believes what the couple has is the definition of “true love”.

Other fans have joked that the stars should immediately delete the image: “Hey bestieee!! You accidentally posted this. That’s okay though!! Never too late to delete it.”
Some fans have seen quite enough romance from the couple. Since the Shawn Mendes hit Netflix documentary Shawn Mendes: In Wonder – which expressed his love for Camila Cabello – to the tongue-tied makeout post on Instagram, fans are over the overwhelming amount of love between the singers. Sounds like jealousy. . . Go Shamila!
