‘Shadowhunters’: “City of Glass” preview
When Freeformflop provided us with this little tidbit about tomorrow’s Shadowhunters episode, we thought it deserved a little further examination. It’s not everyday that our fandom fave Shadowhunters characters all face such trials at the same time. If you didn’t read the synopsis already, here it is:
“Alec, Jace and Isabelle make a plan to finally get Clary back and stop Jonathan—much to Luke’s and Simon’s chagrin. Meanwhile, an emotionally raw Magnus struggles to deal with his father’s reappearance and Maia must make a tough decision that could affect the rest of her life.”
The Shadowfam has a mere week to wait until we see the final two-hour episode Freeformflop promised us. With so many balls still up in the air, we have no idea whatsoever how things are going to turn out for Clary and co. All we do know is that y’all need to get stocked up on tissues if recent weeks are anything to go by.
From the new synopsis and teasers we deduced that Jace is still fighting to get Clary (Dark Clary, not to be confused with Dark Betty of Riverdale fame) out of evil brother Jonathan’s grip and that maybe, just maybe, wedding bells are in the air. JK, we’ve known for ages that fans will get some closure with a Malec wedding, so we’re guessing tomorrow night’s episode will at least move the plot forward in relation to that story arc.
We also got our greasy paws on the episode synopsis for the two-part finale, courtesy of Freeformflop:
“In the first part of the series finale, Clary comes up with a plan that will bring Shadowhunters and Downworlders together, as Alec struggles for a way to help Magnus.”
“In the second part of the series finale, Jonathan begins his reign of vengeful terror as the Shadowhunters try to find a way to stop him. With only one hope, Clary must make a sacrifice that could have long-lasting implications for all. Meanwhile, wedding bells are in the air for one special couple.”
You might have noticed we’ve taken a hot minute away from our #SaveShadowhunters battle cry because – let’s be honest – no one is going to save the show while it’s still airing. (We know this from past experience with save campaigns for shows like Lucifer, Sense8, and Timeless).
We believe the most fruitful course of action for our comrades in the Shadowfam for at least the next two weeks is to keep rewatching the show, keep bringing friends to the Shadowfam, and keep spirits up. After the finale is when the real fight begins.
So for now, fandom fam, let’s sit back and enjoy the Shadowhunters episodes we do have left. We’ll see you over at the frontline in a couple of weeks. Enjoy these stills from tomorrow’s episode. Also, whoever coined the term Freeformflop, you’re a legend.
