When does Marvel’s ‘Morbius’ come out?

A scientist that turns into a blood-sucking vampire who killed his best friend? Yes, please! We have to see this onscreen. Sony revealed their new film, Morbius would be hitting theaters “soon.” Then they said that exact statement a few more times. In fact, the release date for Morbius has changed at least six times. But hey, who’s counting?

The filming of the movie took place in 2019, with the film scheduled for release on July 10th, 2020 before quickly moving to July 31st. The COVID-19 pandemic caused massive disruption for movie releases and Morbius, earning a reschedule for October 8th, 2021.

As the pandemic continued, however, its release was moved to January 21st, 2022, and then to January 28th. So when does Morbius come out officially? Let us give you the specifics.

The brooding & gritty origin story of Dr. Morbius

From a young age, Michael Morbius lived with a rare blood disease in Greece. He was raised by a single mother and had an absentee father. As a child, he befriends Emil Nikos who becomes a dedicated and devoted best friend.

Niko & Morbius go off to college where they both study science to figure out a cure for Morbius’ condition. Their research into using vampire bat blood to make a cure earned a Nobel Prize. Though Morbius becomes so fragile to the point where he breaks a finger lifting a mug, the prize money helps fuel the next stage of the experimentation process.

Michael Morbius attempts to cure his life-long blood disease with experimental vampire bat science. In the process, he turns himself into a vampire, tortured by his uncontrollable thirst for blood.

Michael Morbius turns a weakness into a strength by focusing his natural intelligence towards finding a cure to the disease that ravages his body. Morbius went on to become a brooding, gritty, and tragically flawed antihero in his own series and other titles.

It’s been reported that Sony has signed Jared Leto on for a trilogy of Morbius films and cameos in other Spider-Man Universe movies. The new Morbius trailer gives fans a first glimpse at Leto’s scientist-turned-vampire role in his fully transformed state, fangs and all.
