Season 4 has dropped: Everything we know about ‘Money Heist’ part 5
The heist isn’t over yet for the Professor and the rest of the Money Heist (La Casa de Papel) gang. The hit Spanish heist show hasn’t even premiered its fourth season yet, but scored a renewal for parts 5 & 6.
Money Heist has become the most watched non-English program on Netflix since its premiere in 2017. Over the past three seasons, viewers have followed along with the Professor (Álvaro Morte), Tokyo (Úrsula Corberó), Rio (Miguel Herrán), Raquel/Lisbon (Itziar Ituno), Nairobi (Alba Flores), and a rotating cast of thieves brought on to assist in their heists.
Part three of Money Heist left the gang in the middle of their gold heist at the Bank of Spain, with trouble for nearly every member of the crew. Nairobi is on the brink of death, Rio & Tokyo just unjustifiably killed a bunch of cops, and Lisbon’s alive but in police custody. It’s hard to imagine all the robbers will get out alive, but if there’s going to be another season, it’ll all happen somehow.
Considering the fourth season hasn’t dropped yet, there’s not a lot of information about season five – but we do have some information about what to expect next. Of course, as more information drops, check back here to see updates on one of our favorite ever TV series, Money Heist.
The heists are going international
The past 4 parts have stayed within Spain, but word on the street is Money Heist will go international for part 5.
A source from Vancouver Media spoke with Formula TV said they’ve been looking at shooting internationally, with a heist taking place somewhere else in Europe. The Royal Bank of Scotland, perhaps? Robbing the Swiss banks that allow anonymous banking for the rich? There are plenty of possibilities.
Some of the original cast (but not all) will move on
Of course, we can’t know for sure who dies in part four of Money Heist without seeing it, but sounds like some of the familiar faces we all know & love will move on in future seasons. The Professor for sure will make an appearance in part five, along with Tokyo.
But outside those two, there’s no saying for sure who will exit next season. Nairobi is on death row, Rio would lay it on the line to protect Tokyo, and Lisbon may actually be murdered by police. Until season four officially premieres, we won’t know for sure who’s moving on to the next heist.
Money Heist pt. 5 starts filming around when pt. 4 premieres
Vancouver Media’s source not only announced part four of Money Heist will be debuting around January 2020, but that part five will start production around the same time. Since Netflix took on Money Heist, the production cycle has been filming two parts together, and then releasing them about 6 months apart from each other.
If parts five and six follow the same pattern, Money Heist will start filming in January and film for six to eight months. Then, part five will release about eight months from the beginning of filming, so aiming for a September 2020 premiere – then part six will premiere in March 2021. It may seem like a long wait, but considering how addictive Money Heist is, it’ll be 100% worth it.
