Lost in Space: Even more shows hitting Netflix this April

Okay, so we’re halfway through April, which means we’re halfway through our springtime month of binge. Network TV has been the talk of the town of late what with the release of the long-awaited Roseanne return. However, Netflix has all kinds of tricks up its sleeve ready for a late April push including a major reboot, the return of an audience fave, and a couple of gripping docuseries. Everyone’s really gearing up ahead of the Emmy Awards cutoff and we’re here to celebrate that fact by looking at the best upcoming Netflix shows for the remainder of April. Here goes:

3% – S2

Available: April 27

The post-apocalyptic Portuguese-language drama returns later this month, bringing with it the main cast including Bianca Comparato (In Treatment) who will be back to lead as Michele Santana. The show itself depicts a bleak dystopian future in which the majority of the population live in overcrowded shanty towns in squalor and poverty. However, there is an escape known as the Process, which gives 3% of the world the chance to have a better life in a mysterious place called the Offshore. S2 will pick up from where the finale left off, in which Michele and a number of other candidates made it to the Offshore.

Bobby Kennedy for President

Available: April 27

In what looks set to be the next best gripping docuseries offering from Netflix, Bobby Kennedy for President is filled with interview and archive footage, delving into the changes in the former Attorney General’s outlook and political beliefs over the 60s, especially after the death of his older brother, John F. Kennedy. While many documentaries have focused on his brother, this show is poised to reach a whole new audience who may be unaware of a lot of the info the film covers.

Lost in Space

Available: April 13

People have been jonesing for a good Netflix sci-fi show to itch the scratch that Altered Carbon didn’t quite get, and the Lost in Space reboot might just be it. It’s been 53 years since the Robinson family originally got lost in space, and while there have been spinoffs and blockbuster flicks, the franchise has continued to flounder. However, the upcoming 10-episode Netflix edition could bring it back from the dead. Carrying the original’s basic premise, parents Maureen (Molly Parker) and John (Toby Stephens) and children Judy (Taylor Russell), Penny (Mina Sundwall), and Will (Maxwell Jenkins) take part in a project to colonize space. Chef’s Table: Pastry

Get those napkins out, because David Gelb (The Lazarus Effect) is back with another droolworthy instalment of Chef’s Table, this time focusing on pastry chefs. Oh baby! The four-episode instalment premieres today, promising more glossy food cinematography from the world’s haute cuisine pastry masters, including Milk Bar and Room4Dessert. It’s time to dig in, foodies.

Dope – S2

Available: April 20

In another enticing docuseries, season two of Dope will delve deeper into the perspectives of dealers, users, and the police, offering a bracing look into the US and Mexico’s war on drugs. If you have an interest in the illegal drug trade, this is the show for you. But even if you don’t, it’s an entertaining and insightful look at the nitty gritty of the underground drug market from the point of view of those along the trail.

The Chalet

Available: April 17

Starring Chloé Lambert (Chaos), Philippe Dusseau (The Big Picture), and Emilie de Preissac (Jean-Philippe), The Chalet looks set to be your next cheesewatch. Set in the French alps, this mystery thriller follows a group of friends who gather in a remote chalet for a summer getaway. However, what was supposed to be an enjoyable sojourn soon turns into a nightmare, as a dark secret from the past comes to light.
