Who are Ghislaine Maxwell’s friends? All the people she bragged about
Ghislaine Maxwell is known for being a socialite. She was born with money and influence, and she has made a laundry list of important connections in multiple countries. Now that Maxwell has been arrested for committing sex crimes with Jeffrey Epstein people are wondering who in their circle of friends knew what the two were doing.
This means pretty much everyone who ever had ties with either Ghislaine Maxwell or Jeffrey Epstein are trying to distance themselves. However, Maxwell has had a reputation for name dropping even the most remote of acquaintances – especially when she was trying to drum up investors for her activism project TerraMar.
In the early 2010s, Maxwell was trying to revamp her public image from being Epstein’s right-hand woman to an activist. It’s said that in many of the gatherings she hosted in her home to procure investors she had a habit of dropping big names. Here are some of the people Maxwell has claimed to be connected to.
Eric Schmidt
Eric Schmidt is a former CEO of Google. Supposedly Maxwell met Schmidt through Ted Waitt, another big name in technology.
However, Maxwell’s claim of friendship seems to be a bit exaggerated. Not only did Schmidt not donate to her TerraMar project, but people have said they were never friends or close to one another.
The two were merely acquaintances who happened to attend the same parties every once in a while.
Jeff Bezos
Maxwell has also claimed to have ties to Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos. In fact, Maxwell has supposedly even said she’s been invited to & attended Bezos’s 2018 campfire retreat. Bezos is known for throwing an annual literary retreat referred to as campfires.
Despite these claims, Bezos has never confirmed this, nor has anyone on his team.
Elon Musk
While there are no specific rumors of Ghislaine Maxwell claiming she and Elon Musk are friends, Musk himself once said she “photobombed” him at a Vanity Fair Oscars party in 2014.
The image resurfaced earlier this year when people were combing through Maxwell’s influential connections, and Musk said “[I] Don’t know her at all. She photobombed me once at a Vanity Fair party several years ago.”
If the rumors of Maxwell trying to maximize her friends list in order to impress others are true, then it seems plausible she did this solely to look as if she and Musk had a friendship when they didn’t.
