Lizzo is getting thrown major shade from "Rumors". Rip open the story and see how Cardi B is defending her collaborator from the new hit song.

Did Cardi B defend Lizzo after their new song release?

Cardi B & Lizzo both have massive cult followings, and both artists’ squads came swinging for their queens over the past week. If you haven’t had your head in the sand since August hit, you know the two have teamed up for a blowout single which has been tearing up the pop charts since it dropped last Friday. However, the song seems to be living up to its title as well.

Yes, “Rumors” is getting the natural buzz of a juicy sh*t-talking gossip sesh, and we’re sure the producers behind the new single are happy people are talking. However, just because people are streaming the new track from Cardi B & Lizzo doesn’t mean everyone’s feeling good as h*ll. Lizzo got some serious backlash after her new song got some traction, and everyone’s talking about the hot tea. Here’s the latest.

Rumors

Lizzo had a massive comeback over the weekend. The artist has been accumulating huge honors and building up a massive following of loyal fans since she broke out on the music scene.

Lizzo seemed to be peaking in success after her single “Truth Hurts” went viral in 2017. However, we hadn’t seen anything new from Lizzo since Cuz I Love You dropped in 2019. Times changed this past weekend.

After a weighty buildup since August 1st, Lizzo & Cardi B dropped “Rumors” last Friday. Lizzo consistently teased the new song on her Instagram, giving her fans hints and promo photos of the new single, eventually leading to a release date for the massive hit. “Rumors” dropped and spread like wildfire, but unsurprisingly, haters didn’t take long to dig their claws into Lizzo’s latest song.

Haters do what they do

Lizzo took to Instagram & TikTok last week to address her haters, and the singer was quite emotional.

She seemed to be addressing comments of body shame, and on TikTok alluded to certain haters’ claims she was “acting like a mammy” in the new video. Lizzo defended herself directly against her critics’ harsh words, but she didn’t have to defend herself alone for long.

Cardi B proved to be more than simply a feature to colleague Lizzo, as she took to Twitter to repeatedly defend both “Rumors” and the hate Lizzo received since the track dropped.

Tear you apart

On Sunday, Cardi B first defended Lizzo by tweeting the singer’s breakdown on Instagram with a lengthy caption.

The tweet read, “When you stand up for yourself they claim your problematic & sensitive. When you don’t they tear you apart until you crying like this. Whether you skinny, big, plastic, they going to always try to put their insecurities on you.Remember these are nerds looking at the popular table.”

However, Cardi B didn’t stop there in her defense of Lizzo and the two’s new song. She followed up the post with some retweets from fans with similar disdain for the Lizzo hate, but then went straight to the facts.

Doing great

Cardi B followed up her first defense with a few images of “Rumors”’s high positions on various charts, with a caption underscoring her earlier sentiments.

The tweet read, “Rumors is doing great. Stop trying to say the song is flopping to dismiss a woman emotions on bullying or acting like they need sympathy. The song is top 10 on all platforms. Body shaming and callin her mammy is mean & racist as f*ck.”

Cardi B has certainly drawn a line in the sand against the Lizzo haters, and we can only imagine the two won’t make “Rumors” their last single together. The new song isn’t even a week old yet, and only time will tell how far up the charts “Rumors” will go, and how much hate will follow.
