Who’s replacing Armie Hammer in ‘The Offer’? Read the latest casting news

The latest Armie Hammer news is hot off the presses! The troubled actor has been replaced as the lead of the new Paramount+ series The Offer, and Miles Teller is now taking over the role of The Godfather producer Al Ruddy from Hammer. Teller will also serve as an executive producer of the show.

The Offer is about the behind-the-scenes experiences of producer Al Ruddy while making the legendary 1972 film The Godfather. The Godfather won Ruddy an Academy Award for Best Picture in 1973. He wasn’t involved in the sequel though he would win another Oscar thirty years later for 2004’s Million Dollar Baby.

The series will be written and executive produced by Nikki Toscano (Hunters) and Michael Tolkin (Escape at Dannemora). Rocketman director Dexter Fletcher will direct the first and last episodes. Production is expected to begin soon, though a supporting cast has not yet been announced.

It’s strictly business

Miles Teller is also set to star in Top Gun: Maverick alongside Tom Cruise. The Top Gun sequel is set to be released in November, and Miles Teller is also set to star in Netflix’s Escape from Spiderhead opposite Chris Hemsworth. Both films are directed by Joseph Kosinski who worked with Cruise on 2013’s Oblivion. Teller also recently starred in the Amazon original series Too Old to Die Young directed by Nicolas Winding Refn.

Teller has been in the news lately after reportedly being assaulted by two men at a restaurant in Hawaii. The actor claimed to have never seen the men before. The Maui Police Department has confirmed that a criminal investigation is underway.

The Offer isn’t the only production looking to capitalize on the drama surrounding The Godfather. Barry Levinson is in development of Francis and the Godfather, another film about the 1972 classic. Levinson’s film is set to star Oscar Isaac as director Francis Ford Coppola and Jake Gyllenhaal as legendary Paramount executive Robert Evans. There is no release date for the film yet.

The gory details

Hammer left The Offer in January after he was accused of rape and sending messages to several women about extreme sadism & cannibalism. Fans obsessed over the latest Armie Hammer news as the actor’s personal life became public. Hammer was dropped from every project he was working on following the accusations.

Hammer has publicly denied all allegations made against him. Hammer’s wife of ten years Elizabeth Chambers filed for divorce last year. She accused the actor of years of infidelity and abandoning their family during the COVID-19 pandemic to live in the Cayman Islands.

Hammer’s projects sleep with the fishes

Armie Hammer was replaced by Josh Duhamel in the Jennifer Lopez-led romantic comedy Shotgun Wedding. Dan Stevens will replace Hammer in Gaslit, a Starz original series about the Watergate scandal. Hammer was also dropped from Billion Dollar Spy, which he was set to star opposite Mads Mikkelsen. Hammer’s publicist & agency resigned as well.

Hammer completed several projects before the accusations which are due out over the next two years. Kenneth Branagh’s Death on the Nile was delayed to February of 2022 following the Armie Hammer news. Reshooting the film would prove to be costly and would likely be impossible due to the star-studded ensemble cast including Gal Gadot, Rose Leslie, Annette Benning, and Letitia Wright.

It is unknown how the Armie Hammer news will affect the rumored Call Me By Your Name sequel. Fans have been asking for a sequel since the film’s release in 2017. Director Luca Guadagnino has attempted to cool those expectations by focusing on new projects.
