‘Outlander’: Prepare to melt at the hottest sex scenes so far

Romance. Angst. Time travel. Those are the three main components that make up the critically acclaimed Starz series Outlander. It might sound simplistic but it’s truly a brilliant formula for both a brilliant TV show and book series. 

While we’re totally here for the plot, we can’t help but love the wonderfully choreographed Outlander sex scenes scattered throughout the show. So many of them leave us in need of a nice cold shower or a little alone time. That’s why we’re delving into our favorite Outlander sex scenes and looking at what makes them so darn great.

Fans can’t get enough and, thankfully, there is plenty more Outlander to come! Outlander has been renewed through a seventh season, which means there should be plenty more sexy scenes on the horizon. Also, be on the lookout for the ninth book in the series, Go Tell the Bees that I am Gone, is slated for release November 2021.

Now, in no particular order, here are some of the best Outlander sex scenes for you to enjoy!

Season 1, episode 7

While this Outlander episode might not be the hottest sex scene on the list, it does deserve a place of honor because it’s the first of many sex scenes between Jamie & Claire to come. This episode actually has a lot of firsts. Not only is it Claire (Caitriona Balfe) and Jamie’s (Sam Heughan) wedding and their first time together, it is also Jamie’s very first time ever having sex. 

The scene remains memorable because Jamie comments that he didn’t know it was possible for folks to have sex face-to-face; he thought they all did it like horses. Thankfully, Claire shows him otherwise.

Season 1, episode 8

Jamie & Claire are still experiencing a newlywed high during this episode. This time, however, they’ve taken their lust outdoors to do the deed in the great outdoors. And who can forget Jamie’s line “I feel like God himself when I’m inside ye”?

Unfortunately, a bunch of British soldiers choose then to interrupt, upsetting Jamie, Claire, and, of course, us.

Season 3, episode 2

While it isn’t technically a sex scene, it is a pretty hot masturbation scene that doesn’t fail to hit the spot. Claire is back home in the 20th century and lying next to her husband while he snoozes away. Her thoughts turn to Jamie and she imagines him in bed with her, touching herself in the process. Frank (Tobias Menzies) must be one hard sleeper!

Season 3, episode 4

Given the many other couplings on Outlander outside of Claire & Jamie, they can’t all be about them, right? In this scene, Jamie teaches Geneva (Hannah James) all about sex and just how good it can be.

Season 3, episode 6

This was the Outlander episode we’d all been waiting for: Jamie & Claire’s reunion! Jamie faints at the sight of Claire for the first time in twenty years, but that’s okay because they eventually find themselves in the bedroom. We nearly fainted ourselves when Claire tells Jamie to“do it now and don’t be gentle.”

Season 4, episode 6

What could be better than a scene that’s both hot & sensual? In our book, not much! That’s what makes the sex scene between Claire & Jamie in season 4, episode 6 so great. Claire takes a bath in front of the fire while Jamie lovingly washes her back. Then he sweeps her away to bed to have mad, passionate sex. Sounds like a win!

Season 4, episode 11

Finally, a gay sex scene! In this one, Lord John Grey (Davide Berry) has a little rendezvous with his lawyer friend that he met at Aunt Acosta’s dinner party when Brianna get engaged.
