When will the new season of ‘Stranger Things’ drop on Netflix?
Are you ready to revisit the ǝpᴉsdn uʍop? That’s right, the Hawkins gang is coming back for Stranger Things season 4. Netflix have recently announced when they’ll be reuniting us with our favorite group of misfits and we’re already ready to bingewatch the last three seasons.
Will Eleven return to Hawkins? Will Hopper escape a Russian prison? Let’s dive into the details and explore the new season of Stranger Things.
Grab your Eggos
We last saw the Stranger Things crew in season 3 nearly three years ago in 2019 before COVID-19 brought the world to a screeching halt. The new season will drop on Netflix in two parts. Part one will arrive on May 27, 2022, and the second half just six weeks after on July 1, 2022.
The exciting announcement also brought disappointment when they dropped the bombshell that season 5 will be the final season of Stranger Things.

In their announcement letter by creators the Duffer brothers, they said: “With nine scripts, over eight-hundred pages, almost two years of filming, thousands of visual effects shots, and a runtime nearly twice the length of any previous season, Stranger Things 4 was the most challenging season yet, but also the most rewarding one.”
What can we expect from the new season?
Rewind time
Over three seasons, we witnessed a buttload of action, comedy, drama, and Demogorgons. It’s hard to believe that the iconic sci-fi series began way back in 2016. In season 1, we saw Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown) escape Hawkins’s laboratory after a lifetime of experiments and find her way to Mike (Finn Wolfhard), Dustin (Gaten Matarazzo), and Lucas (Caleb McLaughlin).
The young boys find themselves in the middle of a battle with an unknown enemy while also trying to save Hawkins and their missing best friend Will Byers. We witness Eleven’s insane powers, the terrifying Demogorgons, and the strange unknown world known as the Upside Down.
In the last season, the heroes faced their toughest challenge yet – the Mind Flayer. The nightmare-fueled villain infiltrated Hawkins which led to a gruesome battle known as “The Battle of Starcourt”. In the crazy fight, the gang witness beloved character Hopper allegedly die. (We’re still not over Eleven’s reaction . . .).
Due to the terrifying ordeal, Will Byers’s family including Jonathan (Charlie Heaton), Joyce (Winona Ryder), and Eleven leave Hawkins behind to start a new and safer life. Will season 4 bring us an emotional reunion?
What’s in store for season 4?
As reported in Digital Spy, “The official synopsis of season four reads: “It’s been six months since the Battle of Starcourt, which brought terror and destruction to Hawkins. Struggling with the aftermath, our group of friends are separated for the first time — and navigating the complexities of high school hasn’t made things any easier.
“In this most vulnerable time, new and horrifying supernatural threat surfaces, presenting a gruesome mystery that, if solved, might finally put an end to the horrors of the Upside Down.” It’s clear the Duffer Brothers are hoping to round off the horrors of the Upside Down with the last two seasons.
It was revealed which Stranger Things characters are coming back for the new season and they include: “Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown), Mike (Finn Wolfhard), Lucas (Caleb McLaughlin), Dustin (Gaten Matarazzo), Will (Noah Schnapp), Max (Sadie Sink), Steve (Joe Keery), Nancy (Natalia Dyer), Jonathan (Charlie Heaton), Robin (Maya Hawke) and Joyce (Winona Ryder), alongside some new faces.
According to Digital Spy, “[. . .] David Harbour will be returning as Hopper, despite that seemingly tragic end to season three. Harbour has revealed that season four will reveal more of his backstory in a call back to season two where Eleven found boxes in Hopper’s attic labeled “dad”, “Vietnam” and “New York”.” (We’re just excited to see a Joyce & Hopper reunion! #JopperIsEndgame)
