MCU mishap: Is Harry Styles going to reprise his ‘Eternals’ character?
Harry Styles‘ casting in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) generated a lot of buzz, and fans were shocked by his inclusion in the post-credits scene for Eternals (2021). Unfortunately, like the rest of the film, the reception to Styles’ appearance was mixed. Some felt he was miscast, while others felt that he wasn’t given enough screen time to develop his character.
Since it’s not yet known how his character will fit into the overarching narrative, many people are wondering if he’ll make an appearance in future MCU movies and get a chance to develop said character. In this post, we’ll take a look at the possibility of Harry Styles returning to the MCU.
Who does Harry Styles play in the MCU?
Styles played Eros, also known as Starfox, in Eternals. Eros is the brother of Thanos, who already made an appearance in Avengers: Infinity War (2018) and Avengers: Endgame (2019) as the main antagonist. In terms of both size and the impact that he had on pop culture, Thanos, played by Josh Brolin, left some big shoes to fill. It appears as though Eros will attempt to fill them.
As one of the Eternals, Eros has several powers – he can control people’s emotions and pleasure centers among other abilities – that fans didn’t get a chance to see in Styles’ brief screen time. MCU characters who appear in post-credit scenes generally go on to play big parts in the future of the franchise, but both Styles and the studio have been quiet about future plans.
What does this mean for the MCU?
The inclusion of Harry Styles has generated mixed reactions from fans, but it does signal Marvel’s willingness to try new things and cast fresh talent in their movies. It also shows that they’re open to exploring new stories and branching out beyond their core superhero characters. This could mean more unique story arcs that expand on existing characters or introduce entirely new ones.
It’s possible that Marvel may use his character as a gateway to introducing other characters from the comics, such as Adam Warlock or Quasar. Guardians of the Galaxy, Vol. 3 is due out summer 2023, and given the intergalactic setting, as well as the connective tissue between the team and Thanos, it would make all of the sense in the world if Styles popped up and reprised his role as Eros.
Will Harry Styles appear in future films?
At this point, it’s hard to say whether Styles will appear in any future MCU films or not. It all depends on how he fits into this universe and what direction Marvel chooses to take with his character.
Styles has made an enormous push to become a serious actor in the past two years, but the tepid response to his performances in Don’t Worry, Darling and My Policeman (both 2022) suggest that maybe he will want to take a step back and reassess his strengths. As of right now, Styles doesn’t have any more film projects lined up… which could mean his days as Eros are over.

Only time will tell whether Harry Styles will return to the MCU after his role in Eternals. But if he does come back for another movie appearance, then it would certainly signal an exciting direction for Marvel Studios and could pave the way for more unconventional yet entertaining stories being told within this universe!
