Light the menorah and laugh at these hilarious Hanukkah memes
It’s the holiday season which means that Jews all over the world are beginning to get their menorah & dreidels out along with asking their grandparents for their favorite potato latke recipes. Hanukkah begins on Dec. 10th and lasts for eight days. Kids are looking forward to eight days of presents and eight days of lights.
If you’re getting in the Hanukkah spirit, then spin some dreidels, light the menorah, and look at some hilarious Hanukkah memes.
Hanukkah O Hanukkah
There really aren’t many Hanukkah songs, unless you count the one by Adam Sandler. However, the song “Hanukkah O Hanukkah” is an absolute jam.
Jewish grandma
Anybody who is Jewish understands that their grandmother loves to spoil them rotten with lots of food. During Hanukkah, Jewish grandmothers strap on their aprons to cook up some delicious latkes and matzo ball soup (yes, we know this is traditionally eaten at Passover, but it tastes good any time of the year).
Too many latkes
Potato latkes are a tradition every year for those who celebrate Hanukkah. They are delicious, fried potato pancakes that go perfectly with either sour cream or applesauce. However, they’re not healthy for you in any way, so eat with caution (or don’t, after all, it’s a holiday).
Dreidel gambling
For those who don’t know, the dreidel is a spinning top with various different symbols. Each symbol dictates whether the spinning will be obtaining or losing money. However, the money is typically chocolate money called gelt. People don’t usually use real money, except for people with gambling problems.
Spinning is a good trick
This meme combines the Star Wars prequels with Jewish traditions. While this didn’t actually happen in The Phantom Menace, maybe a Hanukkah dreidel attack would’ve made up for Jar-Jar Binks.
Blowing out the candles
The whole reason for Hanukkah being eight days is that the oil in the candle lasted for eight days. While it may be a fire hazard, blowing out the candles defeats the whole purpose of the holiday.
Lightsaber menorah
The lightsaber menorah being wielded by Kylo Ren does look sweet. However, lighting candles can be dangerous enough. Imagine the damages caused by a menorah with eight lightsabers that last much longer than eight days.
Dry & ready
The lyrics are: “and when it’s dry and ready, oh dreidel I shall play”. If the dreidel is wet, then this song is a lie and Hanukkah is pointless.
Fire lasting for eight days
Candle fires don’t typically last for eight days, but when they do, it’s a miracle. It’s definitely worth celebrating. No wonder Mr. Incredible is so excited here.
