‘Uncharted’: Will the cast actually return for another adventure movie?

Uncharted directed by Ruben Fleischer was just released in February and people are already conspiring over a second part. However, it’s logical when the movie cast includes names like Tom Holland, Mark Wahlberg, and legendary Antonio Banderas. The movie is a prequel to the Uncharted video game saga, where we discover how Drake (Tom Holland) came to meet and become friends with Sully (Mark Wahlberg).

Even though the movie has a great cast, it was planned differently at the beginning, in fact, David O. Russel was supposed to be the director. Also, names like Robert De Niro & Joe Pesci used to form part of the original cast, yet, they all dropped the project with the former director and Mark Wahlberg. Yet, this last one came back afterward to be cast as Sully. 

Sometimes having the biggest name on your cast won’t insure a good film, yet, this is Uncharted’s case because it counts on a tremendous cast and is a marvelous movie. But is a second part really coming? And if it actually does, when can we start waiting for it? Here’s everything you need to know about the Uncharted movie, cast, and even a potential release date for part two. 

What is Uncharted about? 

If you haven’t watched Uncharted then you probably won’t get the hype nor understand why a sequel is so demanded. Yet, the movie portrays the story of Nathan Drake, who’s recruited by a seasoned treasure hunter named Victor, better known as  “Sully”, but what for? The adventure of this story surrounds the recovery of a fortune amassed by Ferdinand Magellan and lost 500 years ago by the House of Moncada. 

However, what started as a heist job for the duo ends up becoming an international race to reach the prize before Santiago Moncada, played by Antonio Banderas. Moncada believes he & his family are the only rightful owners of the heritage. However, if Nate & Sully get to solve one of the world’s oldest mysteries, they’ll also be finding a five billion dollar treasure. Well, only if they learn to work together. 

If you haven’t had the opportunity to watch the whole movie, you can at least agree with the fact that the trailer makes it look promising. Who doesn’t enjoy an adventure involving money, ancient clues, and the beginning of a bond that ends up being the most valuable treasure? 

The entire plot sounds familiar to Netflix’s best Spanish T.V. show Money Heist, which also includes a great cast. This show ended up having three tremendous seasons, full of adventure & romance, could this be a referent to positively think Uncharted is having a second part too? 

Uncharted two: when? 

The sequel of Uncharted hasn’t been officially confirmed, however, we can still conspire. Even though the movie was released to cinemas in February 2022 it’s still one of the cinematic projects that got interfered with by the Covid-19 pandemic, just like The Batman. In fact, Uncharted’s shooting started on March 16th and that same day the whole team got sent home. 

However, time has gone by, and even though the pandemic is far from being over, we’ve all got to a point where we can keep working and doing our regular activities. However, taking into consideration the time of production & distribution a movie usually has, it’ll be naif to wait for Uncharted part two before the year 2024. 

But, if there was a second part for this movie, which members of the cast would be coming back? Well, there would be no storyline without Sullivan & Drake so Tom Holland & Mark Wahlberg should definitely come back, the rest, we’ll see.
