Whatever your stance is on whether or not UFOs are real, J.J. Abrams is ready to open up this mystery. Exploring the mystery

If you don’t believe UFOs are real, there’s a high chance that J.J. Abrams’ upcoming TV show may convince you to think otherwise. The four-part docuseries is titled UFO, and will study these unidentified flying objects in the sky, and it will be produced by J.J. Abrams’ and Glen Zipper’s own respective production companies “Bad Robot” and “Zipper Bros Films”.

Mark Monroe, the director of Icarus, and Paul Crowder, the director of Riding Giants, will be directing the show. The TV series will also explore “what clandestine influence the American government, lucrative private companies and the military may have in shielding the truth behind extraterrestrial phenomena to further their own agendas”. This makes us wonder: what sort of secrets are the government really hiding from us?

Who knows? Maybe uncovering some of these government secrets may truly change our minds on whether or not UFOs are real. The TV show was reportedly inspired by “the wake of a 2017 New York Times article that revealed that the Pentagon had been secretly tracking UFOs for years”, according to Variety. If we only just found out about this mind-boggling information only a few years ago, we can only imagine what else there is.

Unsettling theories

According to Showtime, UFO will reveal “unsettling theories of a subject that recently reached national headlines, and has historically been the focus of powerful politicians and CEOs, while average citizens pursuing the very same truth have been ridiculed and ostracized”. One example includes how the Pentagon declassified footage from 2015 when U.S. Navy pilots witnessed objects moving and changing directions.

It was revealed that the pilots saw those unidentified flying objects moving around in indescribable ways. . . scary. A recent report has also revealed that the UFOs, or more commonly referred to now as unidentified aerial phenomena (UAP) that there still has been no confirmation as to what those pilots witnessed that day. So there’s no doubt that UFOs are real, but the real question should be what. . . or who. . . is in them?

The show will be executive produced by J.J. Abrams, Glen Zipper, Mark Monroe, and Sean Stuart as well as Ben Stephenson and Rachel Rusch Rich from “Bad Robot”. Showtime also added that “The series examines the history of the phenomenon through cultural and political touchpoints, including shocking testimony from eyewitnesses across the country”.

“As the conversation grows more bizarre and reaches the mainstream by virtue of credible investigations into alien encounters, UFO confronts the most enigmatic questions of all: Why do we believe what we believe? And what is the elusive truth beyond this decades long mystery?”Showtime concluded with. Well, we know one thing’s for sure: We’ll definitely be tuning in to watch the show once it comes out.

What do you think? Do you believe UFOs are real or do you remain skeptical? Do you also believe that aliens exist, or do you believe they are all just another conspiracy theory? While we’re already shivering just thinking about such things, we’ll definitely be tuning in when the docu-series arrives on Sunday, August 8th. Will you also be watching?
