Have the Best Day Ever and listen to these ‘Spongebob Squarepants” songs

Spongebob Squarepants, the cuddly yellow sponge who lives in the town of Bikini Bottom, is celebrating the release of his third feature film on the Paramount Plus streaming app, The Spongebob Movie: Sponge on the Run. This got us thinking, in the twenty years of Spongebob Squarepants, the show has produced a ridiculous amount of bangers!

Spongebob Squarepants, while not a musical series by any means, has been known to produce some hit songs here & there to help tell its stories, utilizing instruments from the Irish tin whistle to the banjo, as well as the popular ukulele to help capture the deep sea-like spirit of the show. Songs from the Spongebob series, for whatever reason, are oddly addicting, and we’re here to celebrate them!

Sorry, Squidward . . . we’re about to crank up these Spongebob songs to a volume that will surely hinder your afternoon clarinet luncheon.

Ripped Pants

This season 1 was a real OG when it came to Spongebob songs, premiering in the 1999 episode appropriately named “Ripped Pants”. In this ballad, Spongebob belts out his regrets of taking a joke too far, losing a possible friendship in the process with the Texas Squirrel, Sandy.

I guess it just goes to show you, ripping your pants might only be funny the first time.

Best Day Ever

In season 4 of the hit animated show, Spongebob belts out an early song about his plans for the “Best Day Ever”. However, in the show’s eightieth episode, things don’t quite go as planned, as SpongeBob is forced to delay his epic day in order to help his friends. It’s the perfect wake-up song for anyone who plans on having an epic day of their own.

In the song, voice actor Tom Kenny proves that he has the pipes to contend with some of the best of Hollywood’s voice actors, especially when it comes to singing.

Sweet Victory

In perhaps the best Super Bowl halftime performance that never actually happened, Spongebob and his Bikini Bottom friends come to the aid of Squidward, forming a rock band in an effort to help him emotionally defeat his old rival, Squilliam.

This season 2 favorite, titled “Band Geeks”, aired in 2001, making us wish that all Super Bowl halftime shows could simply feature our favorite animated characters. To be fair, this song isn’t an original to the show, as the song actually belongs to popular rocker David Glen Eisley.

All You Need is Friends

As it pertains to Spongebob songs, “All You Need is Friends” might very well be the best representation of Spongebob’s morale, as portrayed in the 2003 special “The Sponge Who Could Fly”. In the episode, Spongebob fights reality as he’s wrapped in the illusion that he can fly like his favorite undersea creatures, the jellyfish.

The Grill is not a Home

You already know…

We have our very first duet on this list of best Spongebob songs! In the 2002 episode “Welcome to the Chum Bucket”, Mr. Krabs, the owner of the popular fast-food chain The Krusty Krab, loses a bet to rival Plankton, gambling away his most prized possession . . . his fry cook, Spongebob

Spongebob, trapped at The Chum Bucket, looks out the dim, cold windows of The Chum Bucket and sings about the life he once had, now seemingly lost forever. Mr. Krabs joins in, emotionally connecting the two through this song’s powerful lyrics and deep message about friendship.

The Very First Christmas

In 2000, Spongebob Squarepants would release its very first holiday special, titled “Christmas Who?”, where Sandy discloses to Spongebob what Christmas is, and more importantly, who Santa Claus is. After, Spongebob goes on a mission to bring this new & exciting holiday to the town of Bikini Bottom, even against the pessimistic wishes of his neighbor, Squidward.

The episode features the song “The Very First Christmas”, sung by Spongebob, Patrick, and the entire town of Bikini Bottom and they prepare for the arrival of Santa Clause, as Spongebob has promised all of them that Santa will be delivering a present to everyone who has made a wish.
