Is Shane Dawson making a Twitter comeback? He says “it’s over”

Dramageddon’s events are still impacting YouTube even over a year after the events unfolded. Shane Dawson became the hot topic of 2020 after years of controversial behavior was resurfaced. The conspiracy theorist and YouTuber found himself in hot water and it looks like the damage may cause permanent effects.

Why is Shane Dawson claiming his career is “over”?

The former king of YouTube

Shane Dawson has been a YouTuber for 10 years and currently has over 20 million subscribers. Recently, he’s known for his engaging conspiracy videos and documentary-style content. However, he used to have quite the following thanks to his controversial and questionable comedy sketches & characters.

Recently, it appeared as if Shane had finally left YouTube after recent news emerged involving friend Jeffree Star. Both Jeffree & Shane left social media for what felt like ages but has only been a couple months. Beautuber Tati Westbrook came forward and accused Star & Dawson of turning the YouTube community against James Charles. Since then, the controversial creators took a step back.

Jeffree Star has since returned showing off home renovations and also continuing on the drama train. Yes, were talking about the whole Kanye West/Jeffree Star conspiracy

Is he returning?

Since Shane Dawson’s departure, we’ve only heard snippets from him. Recently, it appears he may be coming out of hiding. Shane posted on his Instagram Story reminiscing the launch of his conspiracy makeup collection with Jeffree Star. Shane referred to this period as “one of the best moments” of his life.

He’s been periodically sharing snippets of his home life with fiance Ryland Adams, but hasn’t hinted at his return to YouTube after months of silence. The last time he uploaded to YouTube was seven months ago and the video was titled “Taking Accountability”.

Shane stated, “I have done a lot of things in my past that I hate, that I wish I could make go away, that I tried to make go away by deleting videos or un-tagging my Instagram things or literally doing whatever I can to pretend like those things didn’t happen. Because yes, I apologized for a lot of them but I’m 31, almost 32. Those apologies suck. I don’t know who that person is anymore.”

He also addressed the claims of racism in his past videos. “Now, years later I look back at that. When I say I hate that person, I mean it in the most intense way possible. [. . .] At this point realizing how many people I’ve hurt, or how many people I’ve inspired to say awful things or do anything awful, to finally just own up to all of this and be accountable is worth losing everything to me.”

The aftermath

Since Shane’s video, he hasn’t stayed away from drama even after his radio silence. Longtime best friend Trisha Paytas has since stepped away from Shane Dawson following claims he was backstabbing Trisha and Ryland was allegedly lying in his podcast about the situation.

Trisha also called out Jeffree Star and his friendship with Shane Dawson following a confrontation on holiday in Las Vegas. Trisha Paytas has always sung the praises of Dawson until her recent TikToks and declaration on the shared podcast with H3H3’s Ethan Klein called Frenemies

It’s hard to see Shane Dawson making a return to Twitter or YouTube any time soon after the internet has sided with Trisha’s side of events following the internet feud. Has the internet finally canceled one of the most controversial creators?

What do you think about Shane Dawson’s alleged return to Twitter? Should he stay canceled? Let us know in the comments.

  • Shane made mistakes, but he’s apologized and changed. Why people are being so hard on him is insane when there are far worse youtubers and other social media stars is beyond me.
