What’s in store in the upcoming season 5 of 'Riverdale'? Should we give this show another chance? Let’s find out.

Our predictions: All the crazy stuff coming in ‘Riverdale’ season 5

Even with the recent global pandemic impacting our beloved TV shows, The CW’s Riverdale is still going strong. Despite its strong start & promise after season 1, we were left confused by every season after. How could The CW fail Riverdale when it had so much potential? It’s a tragedy. 😭 Don’t even get us started on those dreaded musical episodes.

What’s in store in the upcoming season 5 of Riverdale? Should we give this show another chance? Let’s find out.

River-who?

The Archieverse originated from the original Archie comics which were founded in 1939. Archie comics featured a range of titles focusing on teenagers including Archie Andrews, Jughead Jones, Betty Cooper, Veronica Lodge, Reggie Mantle, Sabrina Spellman, and Josie and the Pussycats.

In season 1, Jughead, Betty, Veronica, and Archie attempted to solve the murder of Cheryl Blossom’s (Madelaine Petsch) twin brother Jason (Trevor Stines). Who could’ve murdered the creepy Blossom twin? When the mystery was uncovered, we were shook! The only issue? It all went downhill from there.

Future seasons of Riverdale all blur into one confusing mess and we’re still unsure what’s going on. Amongst the normal teenage angst was a mixture of villains, jingle jangle, and musical numbers. It may sound intriguing from the outside, but actually experiencing this can be scarring!

Time Warp drama

Actress Erinn Westbrook will join the Riverdale cast in season 5. She will be playing the role of Tabitha Tate (Pop Tate’s granddaughter). Deadline described Westbrook’s character as “the ambitious, entrepreneurial granddaughter of Pop Tate, who has come to Riverdale to take over Pop’s Chock’lit Shoppe in the hopes of franchising the iconic diner, even as the town around it struggles to survive.”

According to cast member Lili Reinhart, season 5 will be set about “seven” years into the future. Perhaps this could force the Riverdale cast & crew to leave behind the strangeness that ensued throughout its past three seasons. The time jump will hopefully mean that the characters possibly start acting their age? Especially since the actors themselves are way older than high schoolers.

On The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Reinhart summed up her thoughts on Riverdale’s season 5 time jump. “We’re not going to be teenagers anymore. I’m really psyched about it. I think it will be really nice to play an adult . . . We’re not just stuck in high school for seven seasons.” Since season 4 was cut short, we can expect that season 5 will be longer than normal. Hooray

Riverdale recently promoted one of its long-standing recurring characters to series regular status. Fangs Fogarty (Drew Ray Tanner) was bumped up to a series regular cast member for season 5. Fangs is Kevin Keller’s (Casey Cott) on-off again boyfriend in the series and a member of the Southside Serpents’ gang.

When can we expect season 5?

Due to the temporary filming delay, it was unclear if we’d see the Riverdale cast anytime soon. Riverdale season 5 is due to arrive on January 20th, 2021, on The CW. Who can we expect? Betty Cooper (Lili Reinhart), Archie Andrews (KJ Apa), Jughead Jones (Cole Sprouse), and Veronica Lodge (Camila Mendes) will return alongside other fan-favorite characters.

No trailers have been released for The CW’s upcoming Archieverse installment, but we hope that previous seasons and their disasters are avoided since this time jump will provide a fresh start. Will Bughead still be alive and strong even after actors Cole Sprouse and Lili Reinhart split IRL? What’s in store for shining knight Archie Andrews? Guess we’ll have to wait and see what’s in store for Riverdale’s season 5.
