All the people who sided with Justin Hartley after divorcing his wife
Given how the storyline played in Selling Sunset, any fan of the series knows about the divorce between Chrishell Stause and Justin Hartley. Or, at least, they know Stause’s side of the story. If you only vaguely follow celeb news, then here’s the skinny. In November 2019, Hartley filed for divorce from Stause and texted her about it, blindsiding her on the series.
Now, apparently, Hartley had been “having problems with the marriage for a while”. The two of them also have disagreed about their separation date. Hartley says they separated in July with the divorce filings in November while Stause said it kind of happened all at once. According to Us Weekly, it came as a surprise to friends of the couple though.
Given that we saw Stause’s reaction and dealing with the aftermath of the split on Selling Sunset, it’s natural the most people seemed to have “sided” with her so to speak. That doesn’t mean that Hartley is without support from friends or even his ex’s own co-stars. Here’s who sided with Hartley after he divorced his wife.
Stause’s own Selling Sunset co-star Christine Quinn definitely did not win any points with Stause after an interview with Page Six where she discussed the split. She said, “We all just thought maybe they were having communication problems for a while . . . We heard that they were in therapy, so obviously there were some issues going on with them.”
This does contradict Stause’s claim that she was blind-sided by the divorce proceedings. If the people around the office knew about the troubles, then chances are on some level Stause had to know this was coming. Stause was not thrilled about Quinn talking about these topics.
She said in a tweet, “I just learned Christine is giving the press ‘information’ about my divorce. Let me be VERY clear. She knows absolutely nothing about the situation and is obviously desperate to gain attention by doing so. Anything from her is either a complete lie or total conjecture on her part.” So things sound like they are going to be real awkward between the pair for the foreseeable future.
You know when your friend is dating like the worst person in the world? But you keep your mouth shut because they’re in love and you don’t want to come across as a jerk? But the moment the pair break-up and you’re sure that they’re going to stay broken up is like the best form of catharsis in the world because you can tell them what you really thought of their ex?
Justin Hartley’s friends apparently had that form of catharsis recently. According to Us Weekly, a source said that Hartley’s friends are thrilled that Stause is out of his life. They said, “Justin is a great, stand-up guy, and he wants to move on with his life in a classy way.”
That means that he’s not super thrilled about the storyline on Selling Sunset. Granted, no one would like to have their break-up aired on reality TV. The source added, “He is doing well right now, and while it’s been disappointing that he is being dragged into storylines on reality TV, he knew that he should expect this.”
