Will Taylor Swift dish the dirt on Joe Jonas breakup in Netflix’s roast?
Netflix announced that the Jonas Brothers will be coming to their platform next month. However, it’s not for another documentary like Amazon’s Chasing Happiness. Instead, the trio will appear in a special called Jonas Brothers Family Roast. This “one-of-a-kind comedy special of epic proportions” will hit screens on Tuesday, November 23rd.
Joe, Nick, and Kevin previewed the special in a video posted to YouTube. They say that Jonas Brothers Family Roast “celebrates the universal truth that no one can get under your skin quite like your own family.” Yet like any great roast, the Jonas Brothers Family Roast will have some fantastic guests.
Who’ll partake in the roast?
The Jonas Brothers Family Roast will feature plenty of well-known “special guests” ready to tee off on Joe, Nick, and Kevin. The list includes Saturday Night Live’s Pete Davidson & former One Direction singer Niall Horan. Stand-up comedians Gabriel “Fluffy” Iglesias & Jack Whitehall will also be featured.
Rounding out the guest list are TV host Lilly Singh & Voice coach John Legend. The Jonas Brothers Family Roast will be hosted by SNL’s Kenan Thompson. However, there could be some surprise guests to throw viewers off. Could we possibly see Joe Jonas’ ex-girlfriend Taylor Swift make an appearance?
Taylor Swift & Joe Jonas’ relationship
Joe Jonas & Taylor Swift ignited tabloids when they began dating in the summer of 2008. The two dated for three months. Then things got juicy. Taylor Swift revealed that Joe Jonas broke up with her via phone. The call lasted all of twenty-seven seconds. Swift wrote the song “Forever & Always” to deal with the breakup & released it a month after their split.
In November of 2009, Taylor called Joe out for his phone call on The Ellen DeGeneres Show. Joe Jonas quickly took to MySpace to address the accusations. Joe posted “For those who’ve expressed concern over the ‘27-second’ phone call, I called to discuss feelings with the other person. Those feelings were obviously not well-received. I did not end the conversation.”
Taylor Swift & Joe Jonas seem to have made amends since their drama in the 2000s. Swift appears to have remorse for calling out Joe back in the day. Jonas claims that Taylor is one of his friends & that things are “all good” between the two of them.
When Sophie Turner & Joe Jonas welcomed their baby girl in July 2020, Taylor Swift sent the couple a gift. Some fans think that Swift’s song “Invisible Strings” is dedicated to Turner & Jonas. Taylor sings about taking the high road, possibly from a past relationship. If things are comfortable between Swift & Jonas, perhaps she’ll appear on the Jonas Brothers Family Roast.
The Jonas Brothers’ TV history
Even though the “Jo Bros” are known for their music, they owe much of their success to the television industry. Joe, Nick, and Kevin all starred in the Disney Channel Original Movies Camp Rock & Camp Rock 2: The Final Jam. The brothers also had their own show called Jonas.
Nick has starred in shows like Kingdom, Scream Queens, and The Voice. Joe Jonas has been featured in television works such as Hot in Cleveland, Grease Live, and Angie Tribeca. Kevin seems to prefer reality TV. His credits include Married to Jonas & Celebrity Apprentice.
The Jonas Brothers have also struck a deal with Amazon. Their documentary Chasing Happiness chronicles the Jonas Brothers’ rise to fame from working-class roots. The film also addresses the group’s sudden hiatus & return to the music scene.
Amazon also released Happiness Continues: A Jonas Brothers Concert Film in 2020. This “rockumentary” shows the group’s Happiness Begins tour & what their life is like on the road. Just when everyone counted the Jonas Brothers out, they came back with a vengeance.
