Audrey Hepburn: Fall in love with the old Hollywood star by watching these movies

Audrey Hepburn was a legendary actress & humanitarian who starred in some of the most iconic movies of the Golden Age of Hollywood. During her sixty-three years of life, Hepburn acted in thirty-four movies. In addition to being a prolific actress, Hepburn was also a renowned humanitarian. In 1992, she received the Presidential Medal of Freedom for her work as a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador.

Hepburn is still recognized around the world as one of the greatest actresses of all time. She was the first actress to win an Oscar, Golden Globe, and BAFTA with a single performance (1953’s Roman Holiday). She’s been in dramas, comedies, and musicals, so there’s something for everyone in Hepburn’s filmography.

Almost all of Audrey Hepburn’s movies are considered classics. Many of them have won numerous Academy Awards, and several have been entered into the National Film Registry in the U.S. Library of Congress. You’d fall in love with Audrey Hepburn after watching any of her movies, but we’ve got a list of four of her best.

Breakfast at Tiffany’s

This 1961 adaptation of a Truman Capote novel is likely Audrey Hepburn’s most iconic role. Hepburn plays Holly Golightly, a high-society Manhattanite who’s searching for a rich older man to marry. Her plans are spoiled when she meets Paul Varjak, a struggling writer, and the two fall in love.

Hepburn has said that she considered Breakfast at Tiffany’s to be one of her most challenging roles. For her work on the film, Hepburn was nominated for Best Actress at the 34th Academy Awards. In 2012, the U.S. Library of Congress added the film to the National Film Registry due to its cultural significance.

My Fair Lady

This is another iconic Audrey Hepburn movie, and it’s one of the greatest musicals of all time. Hepburn plays Eliza Doolittle, a working class girl with a heavy Cockney accent. She crosses paths with a phonetics professor, Henry Higgins, who believes he can teach Doolittle to speak well enough to pass for a duchess at an embassy ball.

This 1964 film is a prime example of a Hollywood musical. It won eight academy awards and has been called one of the greatest films of all time. If you’re looking for some singing & dancing, this is the Audrey Hepburn movie for you.

How to Steal a Million

This is one of Audrey Hepburn’s most critically successful movies. Today it ranks at one hundred percent on Rotten Tomatoes. Released in 1966, How to Steal a Million is a heist comedy about a high-class art forger. Charles Bonnet creates forgeries of famous pieces that are so good one ends up being sent to the Louvre.

Hepburn plays Nicole Bonnet, the art forger’s daughter. She & her father worry that the museum’s experts will eventually determine they have a forgery, and Charles’s reputation will be ruined. She hires a man to steal the forged sculpture that’s wound up in Paris. It’s still hilarious almost fifty years later, and you should put it at the top of your “must watch” list.

Roman Holiday

If you’re in the mood for another romantic comedy, we might suggest Roman Holiday. Audrey Hepburn earned an Oscar, Golden Globe, and a BAFTA for her work in this movie. Hepburn plays Princess Ann, who escapes her royal duties for a night in Rome. She meets Joe Bradley, a reporter who just wants an exclusive interview with royalty until he starts to develop feelings for Ann.

Released in 1953, Roman Holiday is a classic of the black & white era. This is yet another Audrey Hepburn movie that’s stored in the National Film Registry. It’s sure to make your heart melt.
