Get the Best of Both Worlds with these timeless ‘Hannah Montana’ songs
It’s absolutely insane to think that Disney’s Hannah Montana premiered on this day, fifteen years ago. The show told the story of young teenager Miley Stewart, who lives a double life as the pop sensation Hannah Montana. With the help of her father, played by Cyrus’s real-life dad Billy Ray Cyrus, as well as her brother and best friends, Miley sets off to try and live out her dual dream as a singer and a regular teenager.
The series, which ran from 2006-2011, was even given a theatrical film in 2009’s Hannah Montana: The Movie, as well as a 2008 concert movie titled Hannah Montana & Miley Cyrus: Best of Both Worlds Concert. Actually, that reminds us, did Hannah Montana have some bangers or what? Naturally, given that the songs were performed by Miley Cyrus, “bangers” felt like the appropriate description here, right?
While Miley Cyrus has successfully been able to reinvent her career and music style, there’s no doubt that the popularity of both the Hannah Montana show and its songs were a big stepping stone for the young rocker, which is why we’re here to honor some of the very best songs to have come out of Hannah Montana.
“We Got the Party”
This epic collaboration between two Disney powerhouses featured the likes of both Miley Cyrus and the Jonas Brothers, rumored to be around the time where Miley was dating Nick Jonas in real life. “We Got the Party”, while certainly not the best song to come out of Hannah Montana, is certainly one that gets the adrenaline pumping.
“Nobody’s Perfect”
Everybody makes mistakes. Everybody has those days.
A bit cheesy? Absolutely. However . . . that hook. We dare you to crank up that chorus and not tap your foot! “Nobody’s Perfect” sounds like a song by Pink if she was G-rated. Still, we love it, even though the ridiculous rap sections which try to convey messages as heavy as a Black Eyed Peas song seem a bit unnecessary.
“He Could Be The One”
It’s 2021 and this song still gives us chills. “He Could Be the One” of course spawned from that epic Hannah Montana special of the same name, where Miley was forced to choose between the two loves of her life. That was some heavy s#!+ for a kid’s show. However, of all the Hannah Montana songs, perhaps this once speaks the truest to the high school experience, at least from the perspective of a teenager living a double life.
“The Climb”
Look, this song, while perhaps the smash radio hit of 2009, did actually debut in the Hannah Montana: The Movie, where Miley performs this ballad in front of her hometown crowd at a state fair. It counts!
“The Climb” speaks about the journey, and is relatable to almost anybody with a dream and a heart. It’s epic in its arrangement, and beautiful in its message.
“Life’s What You Make It”
One of the OG Hannah Montana songs, “Life’s What You Make It” speaks on taking life by the reigns and turning all visible disadvantages into advantages. Honestly, if it wasn’t for the fact that there was a real-life Hannah Montana tour we would’ve predicted that this song might’ve been the show’s encore.
Ok, but low key . . . how hilarious would it be if Miley Cyrus did a new Hannah Montana tour, and had her encore be “We Can’t Stop” from her Bangerz album?
“The Best of Both Worlds”
Yeah, we have to put this theme song on the list. It does a perfect job of capturing the spirit of the series, giving the Hannah Montana audience exposition through its theme song that sets up the rest of the show. As well, it helps that the song is a gem in the Hannah Montana song collection!
“Hoedown Throwdown”
Same criteria as “The Climb”. Don’t @ us.
It breaks our heart to think that this song never quite took off at weddings as expected. Now all of our attention is on “Jaja Ding Dong” From Eurovision Song Contest to overtake the “Cupid Shuffle”.
