Bill Gates has revisited his past dealings with Jeffrey Epstein multiple times since the financier’s 2019 arrest and death. In a 2021 CNN interview, the Microsoft co-founder described the relationship as a mistake. He said he met Epstein in 2011 and accepted several dinners because Epstein claimed he could steer large donations toward global health projects. Gates added that his wife Melinda had warned him against the connection. Five years later, in June 2026, Gates appeared before the House Oversight Committee and repeated the same message: he had no knowledge of Epstein’s crimes and cut ties once the promised philanthropy failed to materialize. The newer testimony also noted that Epstein later tried to leverage information about Gates’ personal life to restart contact.

Since 2025 the Department of Justice has released millions of pages of previously sealed documents. The House Oversight Committee has used portions of that material to question associates, including Gates in June 2026. The new records have clarified meeting dates and financial transfers but have not produced evidence that Gates knew of the criminal activity.
