Did “mean” Ellen DeGeneres force guests to say nice things to her?
Life for Ellen Degeneres has been going south ever since former employees of The Ellen Degeneres Show accused the showrunners & producers of sexual misconduct. Turns out, Ellen isn’t the bubbly, light-hearted woman she claimed to be all these years. If the accusations weren’t enough, separate reports revealed that guests were required to shower Ellen with praise while she was on-air – awkward!
According to a few former guests from The Ellen DeGeneres Show, they claimed the producers told them to give Ellen compliments and to tell her what a big fan they were during the show.
“These guests were already fans of Ellen, big fans, but to be told you have to flatter her was really weird. You shouldn’t have to be told . . . If you do look at past interviews, most of the guests always gush over Ellen — whether they’re members of the public or her close friends,” the insider stated.
Is Ellen toxic?
These reports emerged after DeGeneres made a public apology following her toxic workplace allegations. She claimed to make sure nothing like this were to happen again and that she would do everything to make sure people are treated equally.
A statement was released by Warner Bros. saying they “hoped to determine the validity and extent of publicly reported allegations and to understand the full breadth of the show’s day-to-day culture . . . .” Warner Bros. & Ellen Degeneres agreed that they would strive to be a positive environment for everyone.
“We have identified several staffing changes, along with appropriate measures to address the issues that have been raised, and are taking the first steps to implement them,” stated Warner Bros.
After the ever-growing list of allegations against Ellen for bullying & racism on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, it was reported that there would be an internal investigation to attempt to expose the working relations.
Warner Bros. expressed disappointment and stated, “Though not all of the allegations were corroborated, we are disappointed that the primary findings of the investigation indicated some deficiencies related to the show’s day-to-day management.”
He said, she said
There is no evidence revealing DeGeneres made requests for guests to praise her; in fact, YouTuber Nikkie Tutorials said that Ellen didn’t even say hi to her while she was on set, and former Today executive producer Neil Breen said he wasn’t allowed to acknowledge Ellen.
According to Breen, “The producer called us aside and said, ‘Now Neil, no one is to talk to Ellen. You don’t talk to her, you don’t approach her, you don’t look at her.’” Regarding the current allegations involving Ellen, Breen finds it a little bizarre, considering he wasn’t even allowed to speak to her.
Breen stated that he isn’t exactly sure if the rumors that Ellen forced her guests to praise her are true; however, “I can tell you that the people who worked with her walked on eggshells the whole time, “ he added.
Given the large list of negative allegations against Ellen DeGeneres, it’s hard to know whether or not she actually forced her guests to praise her. Whose side are you on? Is Ellen a toxic liar, or are these victims falling prey to her?
