Which NFL star will host ‘The Bachelor”s new season?
Recently, The Bachelor was renewed for its twenty-sixth season, which is absolutely incredible! The show has been running for almost two decades now, and it’s an iconic piece of American television that has left a lasting impact on us, its viewers.
But there’s a different host in town for this show now. Who is guiding us through The Bachelor’s new season? Let’s talk about the former presenter, then see the new kid on the block.
The Bachelor’s past host: A Story of Chris Harrison
Chris Harrison has hosted The Bachelor since its inception, and has also executive produced the series. He is an iconic face of the show. However, he stepped down after the twenty-fifth season aired, and his departure was confirmed by ABC to Insider back in June 2021.
But what caused him to leave after such a long period of time? Well, in February of 2021, the history of The Bachelor contestant Rachael Kirkconnell was dug up, including photos of her at an antebellum-style plantation event at her university’s fraternity. People saw this as racist & inexcusable, but Harrison asked people to give Kirkconnel “grace”.
This got people more upset, as they saw it as Harrison defending something quite racist, and soon, a petition was formed, demanding his removal from The Bachelor. Harrison later apologized, on Instagram & in interviews, but the damage had been done. And so, he left the show, and Emmanuel Acho, the author of Uncomfortable Conversations with a Black Man, took his place in the “After the Final Rose” episode. Poetic justice.
Don’t be too sad for Harrison, though. He got an eight-figure sum of cash when he left the show, after all. But who is hosting The Bachelor’s new season? Well. . .
The new season’s host
It’s now official news: Jesse Palmer will be hosting the twenty-sixth season of The Bachelor in 2022! Squee!
Palmer has been on various ABC shows before, such as The Proposal & Good Morning America. He made the following statement to Variety after being announced as The Bachelor’s new host:
“For more than 20 years, The Bachelor has brought the world dozens of unforgettable love stories, including at one time, my own. Falling in love is one of life’s greatest gifts, and I am humbled by the opportunity to return to the show as host this season to offer the newest Bachelor advice gained from firsthand experience and I am grateful to play a small part in his journey.”
The “return” he is referring to is the time he spent on The Bachelor in 2004, back in the fifth season, playing the titular role.
We’re very excited to see this NFL star host The Bachelor’s new season! But what does this mean for the future of the show?
This opens up possibilities. . .
It’s interesting that ABC brought a former contestant to host this show. And an NFL superstar, too. Does this open up the floor for other types of hosts to come on board?
Perhaps other NFL stars can come guide us through our beloved series? We got heart eyes for Cassius Marsh as a possibility. Or maybe more former contestants can come on as hosts. Even the controversial ones would be greatly entertaining to watch.
From here, the potential is endless! Obviously, the best outcome for Palmer is for him to host The Bachelor during its new season & beyond. And if he stayed for twenty-five seasons as Harrison did, we definitely won’t complain!
