Need some more Billie Eilish in your life? Good news, Billie Eilish has collaborated with Spanish singer-songwriter Rosalía for a new song. Eilish, one of the youngest Grammy winners ever, has had a ton of attention on her following the success of her debut album, When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go? Even with the pandemic going on, Eilish continues to keep herself busy by releasing new music.
Her latest collab with Rosalía comes with one of the hottest shows on television, Euphoria. The song will be released on the soundtrack for the upcoming Euphoria special that focuses on Jules (Hunter Schafer). The first special, which focused on Zendaya’s Rue, was released back in Dec. 2020. Here’s what you need to know about Rosalía, the collab, and the upcoming special.
Who is Rosalía?
The 27-year-old Spanish singer Rosalía is best known for her contemporary take on flamenco music. She has, however, become a great collaborator, working with such names as The Weeknd, Bad Bunny, Travis Scott, Pharrell Williams, Lil Baby, James Blake, and more. She’s won eight Latin Grammys and a Grammy award for her work over the course of her career.
Rosalía has also appeared in the music videos for Harry Styles’s “Adore You” and Megan Thee Stallion and Cardi’s B’s “WAP”. In addition, she has helped raise money to fund vaccination research for COVID-19 along with working on voter registration and supporting food banks during 2020. Basically, Rosalía is a BAMF and someone that you definitely need to keep an eye on.
Tell me about the Billie Eilish and Rosalía song
The song is called “Lo Vas a Olvidar (You Will Forget Her)”, which was dropped today (Thursday, Jan 21). The 4-minute-ish song is full of that singer Billie Eilish atmosphere. Rosalía’s sweet, higher voice contrasts nicely with the signature huskiness of Eilish. Basically, it’s a great song. Not a bop, but something dark & moody that gives shivers down your spine.
The video for the song, which also dropped, shows Rosalía and Billie Eilish singing with their images overlapped. It looks like someone may be having a breakdown as well? We need to watch it approximately a dozen more times for the message to really sink in. Though it definitely makes you wonder how this connects with Euphoria, especially since the title is “You Will Forget Her”.
Is the “her” in there referring to Rue and Jules forgetting her? Or is it about Jules worry that Rue may forget her? We definitely have some questions!
Jules also had a rough 2020
Season 1 of the critically beloved Euphoria sees Jules running away with Rue deciding to stay behind. In the Rue special, she goes to see her sponsor (Colman Domingo), whose no-nonsense attitude definitely seemed to get through to Rue on some level. Whether or not the lesson will stick? That remains to be seen, but it was such a good episode between the pair, even if they were talking for an hour.
The trailer for Jules’ episode was released on Tuesday, Jan. 19. And Jules? Jules is not having a good time at all in the special episode dedicated to her. Jules reflects on her 2020 over the Christmas holiday, especially her time with Rue. She says, “Rue was the first girl who didn’t just look at me. She actually saw me. The me that’s underneath a million years of not me.”
Euphoria will release this second special episode early on HBO Max on Friday, Jan. 22 (tomorrow) before its premiere on HBO on Sunday, Jan. 24. Billie Eilish and Rosalía’s song is definitely adding something to it.
