Film playing at NewFilmLA:

This will be my second time at the NewFilmLA festival. The short film is Friends Call Us Unlucky starring Gabriel Warburton.

Logline:

When Lucky and Dex, two naive and ill-equipped criminals, bungle a home invasion attempt, the homeowners early return sets off a series of events showcasing luck has nothing to do with it.

The festival is in person October 21-22.

Friday, October 21st: Public-facing Panels (virtual)

Open to the public audience (free for you; Andrew will send links to all registered passholders).

Saturday, October 22nd: Screenings and Q&As (in-person)

Sunday, October 23rd: MovieMaker Interviews (in-person or virtual)

Passes

An all-access pass to the festival is $30, and a ticket to an individual program is $10 each.

Alyssa is an LGBTQ+ and Latin award-winning writer/director born on the central coast of CA. During her time pursuing multiple degrees in filmmaking, she wrote, directed and produced three short films including ‘Lift Off,’ starring Outer Bank’s  Rudy Pankow and Friends Call Us Unlucky starring Gabriel Warburton.

During quarantine she wrote two feature films and a pilot, Dude, Forget This Happened that placed as a semi-finalist at Austin Film Fest. She is currently working on developing her short script, Toledo, into a feature with the backing of Outer Bank’s Chase Stokes and Jonathan Daviss. Her stories explore the exciting and confusing intricacies of the young adult experience and often highlights universal traumas within the Mexican/American and LGBTQ+ community.
