Ready for 'Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic Reboot'? But will gamers continue enjoying the series or should it be left alone? Get the latest on scope!

Should you watch the ‘Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic’ reboot?

Chances are, you’ve noticed that there have been quite a few remakes & sequels of cinema classics and oldies going back to as late as the early 2000s. Some of them are nice as we can remember thinking as children what it would be like to see sequels of some of our favorite shows. Then we think back to shows like Malcolm in the Middle and That ‘70s Show and wonder what a sequel from them might look like.

Not all shows and movies need a sequel though. We cherish some remakes while other productions simply need to be left alone, not necessarily left in the past but left as the classics they are. Many science fiction fans just got wind of the remaking of Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic. It’s confirmed for the PC on the same date as the console.

The remake was announced on Thursday at the PlayStation’s showcase. Simply called Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic Remake, the game isn’t being developed by BioWare, but by Aspyr which is the studio that just remastered Star Wars: Republic Commandos

With the confirmation at hand, gamers need to know one thing: will this reboot be worth it? Will gamers continue enjoying the series or should the story be left alone?

Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic

Set four years prior to the Galactic Empire, hundreds of Jedi Knights have fallen into a battle against the merciless Sith. You as the gamer were the last hope for the Jedi Order. You had to master the power of The Force or your quest to save the Republic. Or fall to the lure of the darkside. You had to choose your path of either being the hero, the villain, savior or conqueror. But you alone determined the fate for the entire galaxy.

Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic 一 The Sith Lords

Through The Sith Lords, there was greater combat animation and interface scaling. Including significant changes from the original game’s features, you had more diversity with upgrading items, and could even create certain items like computer spikes and explosives.

The story was set five years after the events from the award winning Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic. The Sith Lords have hunted the Jedi like animals to near extinction. They’re on the urge of destroying the Old Republic. They’re only hope is a lonely Jedi who’s struggling to connect with The Force.

As this Jedi, you were faced with the galaxy’s most dire decision. Either you were going to follow the light or let the darkness consume you.

Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic Reboot

We know a reboot is coming but the only information we have thus far about this Star Wars: The Old Republic Reboot will basically implement the plots of all the games, making sure it blends with the current Star Wars canon. Creators want to compose a single, better-flowing narrative. It makes sense and would be impressive if the studio can pull it off.

Overall, it’s a huge surprise for now. Fans are hopeful but it’s really too early to say with certainty whether the game will be worth it. We might have more on the scoop later on but for now, only time will tell. Fans will simply have to stay tuned in the news for later developments, and talk about their predictions.

Lead producer Ryan Treadwell says, “. . . Our hope is to give both series newcomers and long-term fans an experience that can live alongside the rebuilding it from the ground up with the latest tech to match the groundbreaking standard of innovation.”
