‘Money Heist’: Take a first look at Netflix’s plans for part 5 now
After what seems like 100 years, Money Heist part 5 is finally happening. Today Netflix released a full-length trailer for the upcoming season. Like other parts before it, Money Heist part 5 will be split in two. Volume 1 will debut on September 3rd, so fans only have to wait another month before they can find out how the gang goes about handling the crisis at the Bank of Spain.
Seemingly out of nowhere, Netflix transformed Money Heist into a worldwide sensation. The streaming giant acquired rights to the show from the Spanish network Antena late in 2017, and when the show exploded in popularity on the platform, Netflix started producing seasons of their own. It’s been over a year since they put out part 4 of the series, which was released on April 3rd, 2020.
We know that you’ve been dying for the exciting conclusion to Money Heist. We can make September get here any faster, but we can give you all the latest details about the show. With only a month left before Money Heist part 5 arrives, now is the perfect time to check in.
Tight spot
From the very beginning, Money Heist has been about watching impossible-seeming bank robbery plans come together. By the end of part 4, the stakes couldn’t have been higher, and it really looked as though the heist would end in failure. The finale left the entire gang trapped inside of the Band of Spain with the army waiting for them just outside the bank vault.
To make matters even worse, the Professor, who’s been leading the gang since episode one, was captured and held at gunpoint by Sierra. Netflix’s first teaser trailer for Money Heist part 5 showed the Professor in chains and seemed to imply that this could be the end of the road for the character. Will this really be checkmate for the Professor and his team?
100 hours
From Netflix’s trailer, we know that Money Heist part 5 picks up more-or-less exactly where part 4 ended. Tokyo’s narration in the trailer clarifies that the gang has been trapped inside the bank for 100 hours. The trailer also shows the gang discovering that the Professor has been captured as he tells them over a radio that he may never be speaking to them again.
The situation looks dire, and things only get worse when the army decides that it’s time to breach the bank. The tagline for the new season perfectly describes the gang’s attitude: Always Fight, Never Surrender. It looks like Money Heist part 5 will be even more action-packed then the seasons that came before it. The show is clearly aiming to go out on a high note.
Release schedule
Like the seasons before it, Money Heist part 5 will be split into two halves. In total, there will be ten new episodes. Volume 1 will contain the first five episodes of the new season. It will release in its entirety on September 3rd, and so fans can start waiting for the second half of the season on September 4th.
They won’t have to wait terribly long. The back half of the season is currently scheduled to release on December 3rd, and there’s not any reason to expect delays on that release date. So by the end of the year, the gang’s story will have concluded, and fans will know exactly how their favorite characters managed to escape from the Bank of Spain. That is, if they end up making it out of there at all. We’ll just have to wait and see.
