Annabelle (2014)
Up first on our list of scary doll movies to add to your marathon is of course the classic Annabelle. The story of Annabelle first begins when John Form finds a vintage doll to give to his pregnant wife Mia. Upon trying to summon a demon, blood gets onto Mia’s doll, and the story of the hair-raising Annabelle doll officially begins. This film is available on Tubi or with an HBO Max subscription.
Child’s Play (1988)
There are two names that will probably first come to mind when the term “scary doll movies” is mentioned. One name would likely be Annabelle, and the other of course would be the notorious Chucky doll that has been terrifying horror-movie-lovers ever since the 80s. This is why we have to mention the Child’s Play film franchise, and the first movie from the series is currently available to stream on Amazon Prime Video.
There have been plenty of Chucky films made after the original Child’s Play movie that came out in 1988, but we’ll just give you the synopsis for the first one so we won’t give too many details away. The story of Chucky all begins after a murderer named Charles Lee Ray is shot by Detective Mike Norris. While dying, the murderer uses black magic to transport his soul inside a doll owned by a young boy. Watch on for all the thrills.
The Boy (2016)
What’s even more scary than a possessed doll are movies about dolls that are possessed by young and vengeful kids who passed away in horrifying ways. If you’re looking for a story like that, The Boy is sure to satisfy your horror-loving needs. This terrifying film first begins when Greta takes a nanny job for an eight-year-old-boy in a remote English village. . . You know stories that start like this never ends well.
Once she gets there though, Greta finds out that the child of her new employers is actually a life-sized doll that is taken care of as if it were a human boy. The couple had been using the doll to cope with the death of their son twenty years ago, and the nanny has to follow some strict rules in taking care of the life-sized doll. What happens next? Very, very terrifying things of course. But you’ll just have to watch the movie to find out.
