When does Netflix’s ‘Ozark’ return?

Sometimes, we look forward to it, and sometimes it’s an absolute dread, but every show has to have a finale. Plenty of fans have been asking the question: When does Netflix’s Ozark return? Ozark has just unveiled the final season premiere date alongside new footage.

After a money laundering scandal for a Mexican drug cartel goes wrong, financial advisor Martin (Marty) Byrde proposes to make amends by offering to arrange a greater laundering operation in the Lake of the Ozarks region of central Missouri. The show is a recipient of the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series, and a Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Performance by an Actor.

Ozark may be coming to an end but when does the show return to Netflix? (The streaming giant that just loves to make us wait!)

“Humble” beginnings

Back in season 1, we were introduced to Marty Byrde played by Jason Bateman. He had a side job as a money launderer for the second largest drug cartel in Mexico. But suddenly, it became Byrde’s main job. He and his family were forced to relocate their home in Chicago for the forbidding, redneck-soaked Ozark Lakes in Missouri.

(Have images of Walter White been summoned to your mind?)

Throughout the season, we saw things grow from bad to worse and then worse again. That’s what happens when you owe money to people you don’t want to owe money to. Marty tries to repay his debt to the cartel by filtering millions of dirty dollars through newly obtained businesses in the town which includes a funeral parlour, a resort and a strip joint.

Netflix

Netflix has uncovered a new teaser trailer for part 1 of the confirmed season 4. Fans now have insight into where Marty Byrde’s ominous journey will ultimately lead him. “Money is, at its essence, that measure of a man’s choices,” says Marty in a narration at the opening of the video.

The teaser becomes even more grim when Marty’s wife, Wendy Byrde (Laura Linney) says, “Sometimes, if you don’t move forward, you die”.

According to Netflix, “Ozark is a thrilling drama set in the present-day and follows the Byrde family’s journey from their normal, suburban Chicago life to their dangerous criminal enterprise in the Ozarks, Missouri. The show explores capitalism, family, and survival through the eyes of (anything but) ordinary Americans”.

There isn’t a whole lot of information about the plot for Ozark’s season 4. Though the teaser indicates the final season will pick up right where its season 3 counterpart left off.

Cast

Alongside Jason Bateman and Laura Linney, Ozark season 4 will feature a slew of great actors.

Release date

When does Ozark return to Netflix?

“Today is a beginning”. Those were the words spoken by Navarro (Felix Solis) that ended last year’s bloody season 3 finale. The addictive series is scheduled to return on January 21, 2022, with the first half of season 4.

They’re concluding with fourteen episodes 一 four more than each of the first three seasons. The extended order, however, will be divided into two, with the final seven installments debuting a little later in 2022.
