All the Netflix movies to watch this weekend with the whole family

How do you decide which movie to watch? Now that we’ve got a plethora of streaming platforms to choose from & an explosion of choices across genres & themes, the hardest struggle in watching a movie is choosing one. It only gets trickier when you’ve to watch along with family. The more, the merrier except when it comes to getting on the same page about the movie everyone’s in the mood for.

Then there are other considerations – you don’t want to expose the young ones to explicit content, or traumatize someone else who’s in a bad way – that restrict the number of quality movies to choose from. We’re here to help expedite this process as you decide what to watch with your family this weekend on Netflix with this list.

Mary Poppins Returns

We’re thinking of something that will please all age-demographics so Mary Poppins Returns has to be on the list. First of all, it has a spectacular cast comprising of Emily Blunt, Lin-Manuel Miranda, Ben Whishaw, Emily Mortimer, Julie Walters, Dick Van Dyke, Angela Lansbury, Colin Firth, and Meryl Streep. Emily Blunt takes on Julie Andrews’ iconic role as the nanny just as playfully as the character demands.

A great treat from the movie is the soundtrack – who doesn’t want to dance it out to the likes of “A Spoonful of Sugar”, “Can You Imagine That?”, among others. Apart from these adrenaline-pumping songs, there’s also a solid plot as the foundation. The story has just the right amount of playfulness, emotion, struggle, and strife to make it a perfect family watch.

Hugo

Who doesn’t like a little whimsical adventure for the holidays? Based on the book The Invention of Hugo Cabret, Hugo chronicles the adventures of a 12-year old Hugo, a young orphaned boy who lives alone in a 1931 Paris railway station. In his adventures, he is joined by a young girl & under the direction of Martin Scorsese, they bring a spellbinding adventure to life.

Starring Asa Butterfield, Chloe Grace Moretz, Ben Kingsley, Sacha Baron Cohen, Emily Mortimer, and Jude Law, the movie will leave you smiling & exhilarated.

Ralph Breaks The Internet

There are so many reasons Ralph Breaks The Internet would make the perfect family flick. For starters, it’s extremely fun to watch Wreck-It Ralph & his pal Vanellope von Schweetz go through this adventure on the World Wide Web. The puns, the jokes, the subtle references are unending. Memes & internet humor is packed to the hilt.

If for nothing else, watch Ralph Breaks The Internet for the scene where Vanellope meets all the Disney princesses& lounges with them when they aren’t in their costumes.

Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse

The idea of Spiderman as a superhero is discussed a lot, including his origins, but do all the parallel universes have the same Spiderman? Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse answers this with panache as it follows several Spiderman incarnations across different universes coming together to work towards a common goal.

We’ve Jake Johnson to thank for making this gem of a film what it is. Even if you don’t like superhero stuff, Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse can still easily carve a place in your heart with its underlying message, “anyone can wear that mask.”

Casper

It may not be the most popular classic ghost movie to ever exist, but Casper, named after its protagonist, is one of the most adorable & likeable ghosts to ever grace our screens. Casper’s a friendly ghost longing for some friends. The movie was also the first to feature a computer-generated character.

Casper follows the story of this ghost who befriends the daughter of a widowed parapsychologist. It’s a strange but charming premise & story. Grab that bucket of popcorn or holiday leftovers.
