When exactly is the iPhone 12 coming out? Everything you need to know
Every fall, Apple reveals its new iPhones & operating systems and, even in a pandemic, Apple still managed to bring out an entire iPhone lineup with the iPhone 12. They have both smaller & bigger options for every Apple fan to choose from and many early reviews have called the series’ biggest phone, the iPhone 12 Pro Max, the best iPhone yet.
Here’s what you need to know about the new iPhones and what to look forward to with its new design & operating system.
Release dates & prices
The prices for each phone varies, as it depends on the amount of storage space you’d like. Each phone’s price starts at the following: the iPhone 12 mini at $699, the iPhone 12 at $799, the iPhone 12 Pro at $999, and the iPhone 12 Pro Max at $1,099. Apple also has the capability for customers to pay on a monthly basis if it better fits their budgetary needs.
All of the phones are already on sale or on pre-order, as the iPhone 12 & iPhone 12 Pro are both already in stores while the iPhone 12 mini & iPhone 12 Pro Max are still on pre-order until November 13th. USA Today, however, says the iPhone Mini is currently on backorders and might not arrive until late November while the iPhone Pro Max is also on backorders until early December.
Features to look forward to
Many early reviews rave about the iPhone lineup’s camera features, which can entice any camera aficionado. The Verge said the iPhone Pro Max has “the best smartphone camera” the reviewer had ever used, especially praising its precise detail & accurate colors, even in nighttime photos.
Speaking of the iPhone Max Pro, one elephant in the room is its gargantuan size. Its screen is 6.7 in. diagonally, but many reviews say, if you can get over the size (and afford the cost), the Pro Max is one of the best iPhones ever, especially since its battery life seems to be the best. For those who like the smaller iPhones, the iPhone 12 mini is only 5.4 in. diagonally, which makes the mini slightly smaller than the iPhone 8 Plus.
Every version of the iPhone 12 comes in even more colors, with the iPhone 12 Mini & iPhone 12 coming in red, green, & blue, while the iPhone 12 Pro & Pro Max comes in gold & pacific blue along with the original black & white colors. One of the biggest features is the lineup’s ability to use 5G towers and its MagSafe capabilities, which uses a magnet for wireless charging.
iOS 14
The new iOS 14 enabled some of the biggest changes in the iPhone’s home screen by creating widgets & the App Library. The new operating system also redesigned Siri, the Messages app, and the notification system. In addition, the iOS 14 enabled picture-in-picture, created a translation app, and made it easier to use augmented reality apps & games with your iPhone.
For the most passionate Apple fans, iOS 14 created the Home app, where users with HomeKit accessories can have easy access to all of their different devices. These features are especially helpful for those with smart technology in their houses, but for those without these devices, you can easily disable the feature on their phones. For those with smart cars, you can even unlock & start your car from your iPhone.
Apple tried to bolster its privacy settings, by requiring transparency from apps and allowing users to know when their phone is recording through its microphone or camera. Along with these major updates, iOS 14 boasts many more features, as Apple upgraded most of its apps to improve performance & user experience in every aspect.
