Margo Martindale: The best Hollywoo costumes from ‘BoJack Horseman’
Invited to another costume party, but can’t decide on your approach? Fortunately, we’re here to rescue you from going yet again as “slutty human”.
The animated stars of BoJack Horseman have some of the easiest-to-imitate looks in all of Netflix’s shows. If you want to win the Best Netflix Character category at your costume party instead of another Eleven, BoJack is the way to go.
Even if you can’t get the exact same jacket, sweater, or hat, you’ll be able to fake looking like Todd or Diane. Of course, pulling off BoJack or Mr. PeanutButter may be a little harder – but below we have some spooky suggestions on just how to do it.
If you want to go as Will Arnett but a drunk horse, it’s fairly easy: an ugly sweater that’s not Christmas-themed, a grey suit jacket, and some blue jeans. “But how am I supposed to be a horse?” you ask? Amazon Prime exists for a reason! Get a horse mask delivered to you by Halloween. And don’t forget the bottle of vodka to make it really authentic!
Todd Chavez (Aaron Paul)
Let’s say you don’t have Amazon Prime, and are also underaged, so ixnay on the odkavay. Then Todd-ay is your day! You can hit up your local department store for a red zip-up hoodie, white V-neck tee, and raid your drawers for your ugliest pair of track pants and flip flops. Of course, you can’t forget about the classic yellow beanie that really defines Todd.
Character Actress Margo Martindale
Maybe you’re a little too feminine for Todd. Understandable – though really anyone can pull of sweats and a hoodie. But if you want to go the extra mile with BoJack Horseman fans, give them the action hero they deserve: Character Actress Margo Martindale. Most often she’s pictured in a dark red top with a lighter red cardigan and red necklace as well. She’s usually wearing black dress pants and sandals below.
Vincent Adultman (Alison Brie)
Never has there been a more iconic character than Vincent Adultman. The definitely-not-a-child ex-boyfriend of Princess Carolyn is best known for his trench coat and top hat. To be even more authentic, find a small child and put him or her on your shoulders in the trench coat, so it’s a tall “man” with that characteristic baby face.
Sarah Lynn (Kristen Schaal)
Our favorite starlet gone too soon, Sarah Lynn has rocked plenty of iconic looks throughout BoJack Horseman. Her best known outfit is blue-sleeve top with skulls on one side of the front and stripes on the other, above booty shorts. While the shirt is hard to replicate, really any weird, mismatched shirt fits Sarah Lynn’s personality.
Pickles Aplenty (Hong Chau)
Fairly new to the show, Pickles definitely leaves her mark in the first half of season six. Think Instagram influencer – except the pup being abused for likes is the influencer. You gotta look like you just stepped out of H&M or Urban Outfitters – and have that phone with you at all times. The biggest seller is putting forward that young pup energy too.
