Will Chrishell Stause ever be on ‘The Bachelorette’? How Ellen ruined it
Actress & real estate agent Chrishell Stause appears to be thriving since her divorce from This Is Us star, Justin Hartley. With lots of TV deals on the horizon, Stause isn’t disappearing from our screens anytime soon. Recently, she has been dancing her way into the viewer’s hearts with her appearance on Dancing with the Stars.
There may be a chance Chrishell Stause could’ve been on The Bachelorette. How was Ellen DeGeneres involved? Let’s dive into the potential casting.
Moving on up
Chrishell Stause has been in the headlines recently for her very public fallout with ex-husband Justin Hartley. However, she was famous before her notable relationships and worked as an actress prior to her career as a real estate agent. Stause starred in Days of Our Lives & The Young and the Restless during her successful career as an actress.
Now, Chrishell Stause stars in the reality show Selling Sunset and is a fully certified real estate agent working on the LA market.
DeGeneres drama
Rumors have been circling about whether or not newly-single Chrishell Stause could’ve been The Bachelorette lead. Casting director Robert Mills recently spoke about Stause’s potential on the reality show. “I actually had lunch with Chrishell – this was about 10 or 11 years ago – to talk about being the Bachelorette. A casting director recommended Stause, an actress on All My Children at the time, for the gig.”
Since Chrishell Stause has become single, the actress has been buzzing with potential especially after the success of Selling Sunset. It appears controversial talk show host Ellen DeGeneres called ABC to recommend another potential lead instead of Stause. DeGeneres recommended DeAnna Pappas who ended up being The Bachelorette for season 4 in 2008.
Robert Mills discussed the phone call, “I remember Ellen DeGeneres actually calling the president of ABC at the time saying, ‘This woman needs to be the Bachelorette’. This was before we even said we were going to do a Bachelorette. And, at that point it’s like. ‘Well how do we not do that?’”
At the time, Ellen DeGeneres was hugely popular and loved by millions. A recommendation from her would’ve been worth gold. Unfortunately, Chrishell Stause wasn’t on the receiving end and wasn’t cast as the lead.
According to Screenrant, Chrishell Stause took to Instagram to confirm that ABC was going to do a “‘win a date with our model’ storyline” for her on The Bachelorette, but changed direction. However, things aren’t all doom & gloom for Stause. The Bachelor host Chris Harrison spoke of Chrishell Stause’s potential and said, “You never know! Never say never with The Bachelor and Bachelorette”.
What’s next?
Chrishell Stause is allegedly back in the dating scene after her public fallout with Justin Hartley. In People magazine, Chrishell spoke of her new situation and what could be on the horizon. “It’s been almost a year so I’m excited to get back out there. I’m a hopeless romantic, so I think it can still happen. It’s 2020, maybe you could meet your person through an Instagram DM. I don’t know. Crazier things have happened.”
Stause has even taken extra precautions after the divorce. The Selling Sunset star revealed that she’s “taken the steps to freeze my eggs” and hopes to find her happily ever after. Remaining optimistic, Stause shared her thoughts on moving on. “Everything happens for a reason. I’m grateful for the twists and the turns, as painful as they’ve been.”
A new season of Selling Sunset could be in the cards for Stause following last season’s success. With all of Chrishell Stause’s new ventures, we doubt she will stay off our television screens for long.
