Does Joe Exotic have coronavirus? Everything to know
Joseph Maldonado-Passage—better known as Joe Exotic, the subject of Netflix’s immensely popular Tiger King: Murder, Mayhem, and Madness docuseries—is in self-isolation after possibly contracting coronavirus in prison.
The 57-year-old reality star and former big cat owner is currently serving a 22-year sentence at a federal prison in Texas for 17 charges of animal abuse and two counts of murder for hire.
As if that weren’t enough, Dillon Passage—Joe’s fourth husband—recently spoke out to say that he was concerned about Joe contracting the deadly virus, as it was spreading throughout the prison.
Dillon Passage also revealed that his husband was recently moved from Grady County Jail in Oklahoma to Federal Medical Center, a 1,500 inmate facility in Fort Worth, Texas. Exotic’s former prison had some cases of COVID-19 among its inmates, meaning that Joe would need to be quarantined upon arrival.
Joe Exotic achieved recent notoriety when his documentary was released on Netflix, inspiring a community of memes surrounding his baffling lifestyle filled with 200+ tigers, guns, drugs, and multiple husbands at a time.
Exotic was imprisoned in 2019 after he was found guilty of paying a hitman $3,000 to kill his nemesis, Carole Baskin, who is an animal rights activist and owner of Big Cat Rescue sanctuary in Tampa, Florida.
Baskin has repeatedly protested Exotic’s treatment of his animals and his use of them in public shows, even securing a million-dollar 2011 legal judgment against him and his park, the Greater Wynnewood Exotic Animal Park.
The following year, Exotic began making public threats against Baskin on Facebook and YouTube, causing her to fear for her and her family’s safety. Joe’s harping on about Carole Baskin allegedly murdering her second husband, Don Lewis, caused a massive uproar in the relationship between the two rivals.
Whether it’s true or not, Dillon Passage remains faithful to Joe, despite them probably being apart for two decades.
