Well, if you believe everything that you read online, it might seem like Evans and Lizzo are finally together.

The two of them have a storied history together – one that the internet has been keeping tabs on from the very beginning. Their relationship has quickly evolved from drunken DMs to a fictional baby, and we can’t get enough of it. Both Lizzo and Evans are having fun playing around with rumors online, but now some fans are starting to hope the two will actually get together.

Back in April, Lizzo admitted online that she’d slid in Chris Evans’s DMs one drunken night. After the message, Evans started following Lizzo, so in a way, her attempt went somewhere. Lizzo made a TikTok about Evans following her, saying, “The reason I’m upset about this one is because I know I’m not gonna be able to marry him, and honestly, it hurts me to the core”.

After getting a drunk message from Lizzo, Evans responded with all the humor and humility you’d expect of a world-class superhero. “No shame in a drunk DM. God knows I’ve done worse on this app lol,” he wrote, referencing the time that he accidentally posted an NSFW picture on Instagram. It seems like the internet will lead anyone into all sorts of embarrassing situations.

Little America

As you can imagine, the internet has exploded with rumors since the DM incident. Maybe that has something to do with Lizzo’s latest single, “Rumors”, which is set to release on August 13th. Whether or not the Evans saga has musically inspired Lizzo, she responded to all the rumors about her and Captain America head on in a TikTok.

The video opens with the theme music from Captain America: The First Avenger. Over the swelling music, Lizzo says, “​​This is something that I’ve been really trying to keep personal and private between me and the father of my child, but since we’re airing out all the rumors today, I’ve been sucking in. We’re gonna have a little America”.

Only days later Lizzo posted another video where she gave everyone an update on the situation. She posted a screenshot of a message from Evans which said, “Hi! Just heard about our little bundle of joy my mother will be so happy lol”. In her caption to the video, Lizzo handed over naming rights for “Lil Merica” to her fans. Who knows what they’ll pick, but ‘Steve’ might be appropriate.

Dating life

As fantastic as the joke between Chris Evans and Lizzo is, it still doesn’t tell us who Captain America is really dating. In truth, Evans is single as far as anyone knows. There are always rumors swirling about the actor, but he hasn’t confirmed anything in years. Maybe he’s too busy prepping for Lil Merica’s arrival to find time for dating.

We may not know for sure who Chris Evans is dating now, but at this point, some people are hoping it really is Lizzo. The two seem to get along great, and they certainly have a good time playing up jokes with each other. Only time will tell.
