TLC’s ‘1000-lb Sisters’: Check out what happened to the Slaton sisters now

TLC has had a slew of shows covering “human interest” topics. Short for “The Learning Channel”, TLC now teaches us about families with a ton of kids, what happens when you switch wives who are polar opposites, and more about toddler beauty pageants than you ever wanted to know. Their latest sensational show is 1000-lb Sisters, following the Slaton sisters who collectively weigh half a ton.

1000-lb Sisters follows the Slatons’ weight loss journey as they try to watch their calories to qualify for bariatric surgery in season 1, and through the Slaton sisters’ different life journeys in season 2. After being denied for gastric bypass, Tammy’s eating habits seem to spiral, and by the end of the season, her family decides to put her in an assisted living facility, where she reportedly lives now.

Meanwhile, Amy Slaton got pregnant after undergoing surgery, something doctors weren’t too happy about since it could reportedly put her unborn baby and her post-surgery aftercare process at risk. Now, Amy Slaton has a baby boy named Gage who she delivered via C-section during 1000-lb Sisters season 2.

Now, the Slaton sisters are making headlines as fans are petitioning for 1000lb Sisters seasons 3 and possibly 4. Here’s the latest update.

It’s happening!

Last week, TLC confirmed 1000-lb Sisters will return for season 3. On March 15th, TLC announced amid soaring ratings, Tammy & Amy Slaton would appear on fans’ screens again. This was amid the show now having the highest rating in its daytime slot among women between the ages of eighteen & fifty-four.

A petition on Change.org to renew 1000-lb Sisters made the rounds and gained over 4,000 signatures, reading: “There’s an overwhelmingly huge fan base for Amy & Tammy Slaton on 1000-Lb Sisters and we want to secure seasons 3 & 4 to be renewed ASAP. We also would like to see a bigger budget for the show. This is a lot of people’s favorite show on television and we are concerned about renewal.”

The previous weekend, fans asked Tammy Slaton, who is active on TikTok, if she knew anything about whether 1000-Lb Sisters would be renewed for season 3 now. Slaton responded that she didn’t know, and if she did, contract obligations would prohibit her from confirming anything.

Fan predictions

While fans are now eagerly awaiting 1000-Lb Sisters, season 3, their predictions are more sour than sweet, especially for the Slaton sisters’ relationship. One Redditor posted: “The season will begin with Tammy in a facility. Amy and Michael will have moved into their new home (stage home provided by TLC). . . Amy and Tammy will have a falling out and by the end of the season be almost completely estranged.”

Other fans predicted 1000-lb Sisters will now follow Amy Slaton’s journey as a new mom as well as her continuing journey to lose weight.

Tammy rumors

While there may be more of a focus on Amy Slaton and her new parenting journey now on 1000-lb Sisters, rumors circulated that Tammy Slaton may be axed from the show. Meaww reported tension between Tammy Slaton & the TLC producers, including allegations Slaton made on her TikTok

Tammy’s been known to be a pistol on 1000-lb Sisters and her behavior has been criticized by audiences in the past. In the final episodes of season 1, Tammy apparently lashed out at Amy because she was approved for surgery and Tammy wasn’t. In season 2, Tammy appeared to be indifferent about Amy giving birth, which she later explained was because she contracted COVID.

However, tensions may have arisen between Tammy & 1000-lb Sisters producers after Tammy made a now-deleted comment regarding her salary. When asked by fans why she doesn’t purchase a better-quality phone for uploading videos to TikTok, Tammy alleged TLC was making money off her & her family and she was going broke.

Reports also emerged she assaulted someone at her assisted living facility, but it remains unclear if Tammy’s presence on 1000-lb Sisters will be affected by these reports.
